Comment:

I'm taking her for ENGWR 303: don't take any negative comments left for Joy seriously. If a student finds this professor tough, it's because this CLASS is tough. Joy gives you every chance to do well, and has endless generosity for her students. Even if you don't care for her lectures, she's overall a better choice than a few others I could name.

She is a very good teacher that actually reads through every assignment you turn in and gives amazing feedback. Going to her office hours is even better because she can give you more in depth feedback. She is VERY lenient with deadlines but I never risked turning something in late. Read the assigned pages in the text before class!

This class has you writing a ton of papers but it's expected in an english writing class. Joy is such an amazing and caring human. I loved having her as my prof. She is lenient with due dates and will work with each student individually to get them where they need to be.

She cares a lot about each individual student and will help you find a way to pass and learn something. The class was interesting and the professor was kind and inspiring. I would definitely take her class again

Professor Anna Joy is a truly tough grader when it comes to essays! And she sometimes just don't give clear instructions. You're essays better be flawless to receive an A. And get As on 4 out of 6 essays to get a final grade for an "A". Besides that, I did enjoy her style of having class group discussion on book/articles readings.

I really liked the way the professor taught my class she is very organized although she is a bit vague when it comes to giving directions she always easy to get a hold of and will clear things up right away. I recommend this teacher!!

I love her as a teacher; most people don't prefer her teaching style but she helped me out so much with my writing. She's a sweet lady who really wants her students to understand.. you need to meet her in the middle and make an effort in her class. She can tell if you don't put full effort into something. Get her help if you need it, don't be shy!

I am an honor student and this by far was the hardest class I took at SCC. I utilized tutoring and free writing workshops offered by the writing center. She makes you work and is a hard grader, but it will pay off. Be prepared to work hard and you will pass. Do it for yourself and do not take her teaching style personally. It will pay off.

Tips: Visit Writing Tutoring Center on lower level of the library and utilize it the entire semester. Let her know you are doing this and she will know you are trying. Her lecturing style could be improved, but if you visit her office hours with questions she is very receptive. What I learned in her course improved my argumentative writing.

What I learned in 301 helped me develop strong writing skills for 4 yr upper division classes that require strong writing and analytical skills. She is not a popular teacher because she is giving you the material you require. Akin to having fitness goals and needing to work. The same is true for becoming a better writer. (contd)

Really great teacher overall who's sweet and kind. Professor J wants her students to pass and trys to help each student as much as she possibly can. She gives 6 essays 3 inclass and three out of class. You need to apply yourself if you want to learn in this class Homework is not that hard,noticed if you go to her for help,you will learn much more.

Ask for help if you don't understand something. She is a sweet lady who will be there to help you if you ask.. if you don't, it may hurt your grade. Professor Joy will take time out of her day to help! I enjoyed her as a teacher. She prepared me for the 300 class and above. I would've never gotten this far without her. Difficult but worth it!!!!!!!

LOVE PROFESSOR JOY! She can be a tough teacher at times but if you don't understand something, just ask. She is more than happy to help, you just need to make the effort to meet with her... if you don't, it will really show in your grades. I loved her as a professor and would take again.

Comment:

She want's your essays to be her way of the highway, do not try and be too creative, she likes things straight to the point. We read one novel and hardly the textbook (she wrote the textbook). I recommend just photo copying the pages you need from the library.
