I LOVE Dr. Estabrook. When you first meet him, you might think he is a bit crazy. He is, but that is what makes him awesome. He is one of my favorite professors and he is always there to give you advice and help you. One of the best freshman seminars!

Comment:

There is a lot of rambling storytelling that isnt related to the class. After taking German 1 and 2 with Berna, I feel that my knowledge of German grammar is improved, but my knowledge of German is exactly the same. The only vocabulary component was the quizzes. Vocal is never discussed in class.

Best teacher I ever had. He might be a bit unorganized, but he's very accommodating and understanding. As long as you initiate help, he is helpful (which is real-world reality). He teaches you the language, not memorizing phrases-it's outstanding!

His classes were interesting, but once I got into upper level classes I became frustrated with his lack of availability and scatterbrain tendencies. His actual teaching was fine, he is just involved in too many things and doesn't seem to really have time for class.

I already took French, so I took this class merely out of personal interest. Unfortunately, I quickly became frustrated and dropped. Estabrook tries to teach through emersion, however emersion only 45 min a day, 5 days a week doesn't really work. He also has a tendency to repeat stories that make him look intelligent, but are only 5% relevent.

What kind of an idiot speaks only German in an introductory level German class after 2 weeks!Totally unresponsive to needs of students.Plan on an hour of homework every night.Reminded me of a high school teacher.Had students correct own workbooks and write reasons that they missed questions.Lazy!
