Comment:

I was in Brice's Foundation Drawing class in 1970 . The experience changed my life. I learned what it means to be an artist and teacher from Brice. He imparted such a sense of passion and commitment to students. I have never forgotten and use what I learned to this day both in my own work and as a practicing foundation drawing instructor.

One of the best teachers I've ever had in my entire life. The first 2 weeks of class were confusing as hell, then I started to understand his language and realized that all of it was brilliant. I learned so much about being an artist and a teacher from Brice. I still use everything he taught me and it's been ten years since I was a freshman.

I love Brice. Yeah, he's easy to take advantage of but he also has a lot to offer if you're actually interested. If you're lucky enough to ever see his work you'll be blown away.

He doesn't know names and won't notice if you don't come to class, but I strongly suggest that you do (you will learn things). If there's something drawing or painting-related that you always wanted to do but never had the time, Brice's class is your chance! I wish he was harsher though, because people who came twice to class still got an A.

I love to draw but Brice Hobbs should not be teaching anymore. He doesn't remember anyone's name, he doesn't remember what he assigned you for homework, and half the class stopped showing up halfway through the semester because he couldn't tell who was there. everyone will get an A, it's really too bad because he's a really really nice guy

You will learn more about real art in this class than any other. no gimmicks, no cleverness, just art. extremely frustrating until you let go of what you know. when it clicks, it's a huge leap in artistic development

If you're a fan of Jackson Pollock, Brice will always be at your side. Be kind to him, he's one of the sweetest old men you'll ever meet. He doesn't want to see you do any of that realistic classical nonsense. Remember to put poetry, rhythm, beat, and any other form of emotion in your work in order to bring it to life!

Flat is not the opposite of space, it is the opposite of round. (-Brice) This class is really hard to understand sometimes, as only way to do the homework wrong, is to do it as it is presented. He loves when you make something your own. I found this class not to be about being a good draftsman, but about going crazy with your ideas.

Brice is awesome! It's so hard to figure out what he's saying, but once you learn "Brice-language" you can pretty much follow what he's saying. I learned a lot from him and enjoyed class, even though we went from 8am to 6pm, which definitely says something. Overall, great class, and Brice is so cute!
