She is a down right awful. I've taken her classes several times, only because she was the only teacher teaching them. I took African American Lit with her one term and she only asked questions to the only black student in the class, causing her to eventually drop it. And in myth she claims the trail of tears never happened.

On my first day she lectured me in front of the class about adding the class late. Couldn't be bothered to give me the syllabus. Said to figure it out myself. If you have the same opinion as her you'll do fine.

Too many argue incorrectly. She teaches a class on arguing. You don't have to agree with her. Just prove your points. She's an amazing teacher. Part of literature is being critical. To grow as writers. Sounds like a lot took her comments personal instead of learning from them. I've received both an F and A from her on assignments. I earned both.

Dr. Favilla went above and beyond to help me develop my writing. She even let me do an individual independent study class that she had to set up with the school, so that I could keep taking her class. She is an amazing writer and poet, and I considered her to be a friend. We bonded outside of class, talked about our familieslives. I will miss her!

I took 6 classes from Dr. Favilla in 2011 - I got 4.0 in all. She was tough on us, some of the best teachers are! Their jobs are to push us to succeed and she did exactly this. She went above and beyond to help me establish my writing. I walked into her HUM204 class in 2011 unable to write a college lvl paper - now I can. I am so thankful!

She may have a few bad ratings, but her classes are not impossible at all. I took World Mythology & Religions. Listen to her in class, do the readings, and study moderately. She gives you the test ahead of time and tells you exactly what will be on it. A very underrated professor, the material is very interesting. I would recommend the class.

I'm a great student and love mythology. She has a hude ego and demeans the class always. Hard to get a good grade on a test unless you write 5 pages of specific sheeeet. Feminist crazy hair.

I understand that Candise is a published author, but that a side as a teacher she is getting paid to teach-to which she doesn't. Of all the writing instructors at SWOCC she is without a doubt the most disfunctual at actually teaching the class material.

Grades poorly if you write something she disagrees with and is not open to others opinions. Arrogant and allows personal feelings to affect her treatment of students. A VERY well articulated argument will get you a good grade, but if it's a contradictory opinion to hers, it better be lawyer quality. Awful class.

Candace is one of the most knowledge able people you'll meet in the ways of lit. but she's also the most opinionated it it can get in the way of her grading. The trick is to give her your opinion but dont do it forceably. Wonderful teacher but takes an open mind to learn from her and really get something out of what she's trying to say.

This class isn't hard but I would say that it is hard to get an A from her. You have to write things that she personally agrees with otherwise you will get marked down. She does know a lot about literature but she is also very political. Like others have said she can get long-winded on a topic and she loves to talk about her own accomplishments.

Favilla's classes can be very easy or very hard depending on how you approach it. If you are open minded and good at picking out her opions from the facts then its a great class youll learn new and interesting points form but if not then you need to go with someone else who isnt so opionated. Favilla is your classic Professor who takes her sbject serious but has a lot of fun with it at the same time. Try not to insult her or her inteligence if you take her class and yes, she does tend to blame men for a lot

One of the best teachers I've ever had if not THE best. Extremely clear and informative lectures are had ever day, and the teacher is very knowledgeable about literature, drama, and all things English. I give her a 10/10.
