AVOID AT ALL COST!! I'm sure Dr. Chen is a brilliant Physicist because he tells you he is at least once a lecture, but he takes pride in how many students fail his class and reminds you of it frequently. The only graded work is the 4 tests and the questions on the tests are far more intricate than the couple of practice problems gone over in class.

E&M 1 and 2 were definitely the most difficult classes I have ever taken, not at the fault of Dr. Chen. None of the courses leading up to this can prepare you for the rigor of this course. Simply put, you will learn more about vector calculus in the first 4 weeks of the course than in calc3. Prepare to spend 15+ hours a week reading Griffiths.

Dr. Chen is an amazing instructor. He forces you to truly understand the concepts and equations. If you want to learn, he is willing to help. He has very high expectations for his students. He likes to throw in curve balls in his test. YOU WILL NOT PASS if you don't put in the effort. HW is optional but highly recommended. READ THE BOOK.

TLDR: Work hard and you might pass. Dr. Chen is an incredible educator. He only grades based off of three exams and the final. He won't admit to curving but he has to for the grades to come out how they do. Your final exam grade will replace your overall grade. Very frustrating class since the exams get more complex than the lessons. Good luck!

Dr. Chen is a genius professor, at the same time he is one of the toughest and the most harsh professor I took so far. Recommended to people who are seriously hardworking and dedicated to learn physics. He elevates your understanding. Office hours are extremely helpful. Read the chapters before class.

Extremely difficult class. If you are a hard working student willing to put in time into learning Physics, Chen is the right professor for you. I recommend Chen for Physics or MECH.E majors. If you can pass Chen's Physics, you will become a kinematics god for future courses. If you are not taking any other engineering courses in future, stay away.

Extremely difficult professor. The tests do not match the assigned homework. Lectures are mostly just learning how to derive equations. Examples given in class is a joke compared to the monstrosities you see on his exams. However, he has a very generous curve. You just need a 60% to pass the class with a C. But you need to work very hard to earn it

BEWARE!!! If you don't have time to go see him during his office hours, you WILL be graded more harshly (20-40 points less) than those who do, even though it's a waste of your time. He doesn't teach you how to work the problems, and his lectures aren't helpful. The pass rate is abysmal; test material isn't covered. Be prepared to teach yourself.

Passionate for Physics. Those who learn by example, avoid this class. Lectures consist of writing the same equation in different arrangements and a verbal explanation of it. No practice/problem examples. Assumes you know everything math related. Grade based on 7-question exams. No curve/cheat sheet. HW not graded but it's the only practice you get.

Changfeng chen is no joke. Super challenging class because he forces you to know the equations inside and out. He will force you to derive and recall on every aspect of math you have learned before. His tests mock that of the assigned problems, however make sure you read the questions carefully. He is not forgiving for wrong answers, SIG FIGS!

Dr. Chen respects your education, and expects that you do the same. Be on time or don't come. Inspirational with his passion for the subject. Very willing to help at office hours or other scheduled time if office hours conflict for you. Challenging class so stay on top of things and get help early if you need it. Would definitely take again.

long as you do all the hw problems and go to lecture you will pass. The test is really hard and this professor make the test really tricky so you have to really know the material. Also, he's really helpful and test problems were mostly selected based on the problems that students asked him the most (all the question i asked him had appeared ontest)

This is a very difficult class but Chen is very willing to help. Just go to his office hours. He will spend as much time as needed. Tests are hard but based on his examples in class so take good notes and study a lot!! Tons of work but you will learn a lot. Tough but fair grading and scale is curved. You only need to pass final to pass the class.

Professor Chen is a great teacher who clearly loves the subject and teaching it. His tests are not easy, but if you pay attention in class and do the assigned homework while asking for help on anything you are not clear on then you will have a solid understanding of the subject by the time you are through with the class.

He is a motivated teacher But is really teaching the class like you would need to be a physics major in order to get a B or A. Homework gives you an idea of material but you really have to be looking for all the things that aren't in the question directly to expect a decent grade on quizzes.

Professor Chen gives very good lecture and I would say he's the best physics 180 teacher in the unlv currently. Of course, this class is not easy. The exam focuses primarily on his lecture examples and the hw is there to help you practice. If you can't afford to spend at least 15 hours per week to study/do hw, you will most likely fail.

More than half the class drops within one-third into the semester. You already know that's a bad sign. He's an OK teacher but definitely a NO-NO for first-time physics students (which majority are). I'm retaking this class thanks to Chen & my new professor makes things so much clearer. Chen only focuses on deriving and never on physics examples.

Great professor. Class is hard but if you spend enough time on the class you can get a good grade. I got an A so it is definitely possible. If you really want to learn physics this is the professor to take. Go to every class and take notes, read every chapter, and do all the assigned hw. The test problems come directly from the book and lectures.

Dr Chen is easily the best professor to take for any physics coarse . His notes are key to understanding the homework and taking the exams. The homework is very helpful with the exams, although, he takes the key concepts of the exercises from the book and takes it one step further to ensure your understand the material.
