Terrible professor. She actually missed 2 weeks of class over the semester, and was late without informing us countless times. She also made a girl cry in our class, I've never been in such a hostile "learning environment"

If you think Dr. Ross is a good professor, you either A) don't have a brain B) haven't had many english classes yet or C) just want the easy A. If you want something "fun, helpful, and sweet" then get a dog, otherwise take a different class.

Dr. Ross really does nothing to facilitate intellectual discussion. She never asks questions requiring deep understanding or analysis, rather wanting to know if you "liked" a character. Class activities include listing adjectives describing a character in the book. Totally worthless class, totally boring and a total waste of money.

Dr. Ross is a VERY nice, understanding lady. However, she is an atrocious professor. She does NOTHING, just stands up there and points out basic aspects of the plot- in a 400 level class for that matter. I've learned more in high school english classes. You can probably never read a single book and get an A. She does get picky on papers though.

Dr. Ross is an amazing professor. She is very helpful and understanding. Yes, I know she may be easy, but her classes are fun. She selects interesting literature / reading materials. I highly recommend taking her class.

Comment:

A teacher who truly loves her job and knows the subject matter. The text is talked about in depth, leaving no questions left unanswered. She is very helpful in grading of papers and will make time for whomever needs her. Love her personality- very sweet and positive disposition. Despite her high credentials, doesn't have an elitist attitude.

I believe Dr. Ross is one of the best professors, whom I have had: she is somebody who really enjoys teaching, therefore making the material covered in her course that much more interesting, unlike other professors. Penn State should be honored to have a professor like Dr. Ross

Ross' class could be great, She picks good literature and is highly intelligent. She does not push students to learn or think independently. Instead of diving deep into subject material, and looking below the surfrace class time is spent answering questions about the plot. Save yourself the tuition and join a local bookclub instead of a ross class

I have taken at least 3 classes with her and she is quite a character, but that's what I like the most! She is never boring, and is extremely committed to her students' academic pursuits.

I have never been so belittled by a professor in my life. She asked us if we knew where Vietnam is located geographically... in a 300 level class. We only got to write one paper, largely because she missed so many classes that the syllabus was useless. I think she missed five or six classes, which is more that I failed to show up for. DO NOT TAKE!

As shown, i took her for I HUM 300W. The "W" suffix stands for "which cat is she going to talk about today?" Not too much writing involved, but she grades tough on papers. She missed five or six classes throughout the semester. We were so off the syllabus, it was nuts. She's nice, but i felt as if she wasted my time. No thanks.
