Hes incredibly smart and knows his stuff but he also makes that his personality. The class definitely isnt easy but its really interesting and the work due actually made a huge improvement in my skills overall. The class is him talking (some student participation), and essays and quizzes alternate weeks. A good course Id recommend

He's well read and well traveled which makes the class interesting. He's very politically biased and a hard grader. While he loves to talk about himself, he's a good guy and a great professor. It's hard but I'd encourage his class.

He is a good guy and has a ton of experience in the field. Yes he may be a little over concerned about himself but he is certainty extremely knowledgeable. Grades papers hard but curves them at the end of the semester assuming that your writing has progressed. Hard, but worth it.

Egotistical and not open to arguments that challenge his own. I did not like this professor at all. He will note that he will treat you as adults but still acts very condescending.

I didn't like this professor at all because his coursework was unclear and I did tremendous amounts of good work for a VERY unfair grade. To put it in perspective, I took 9 classes in 2015 and 2016. In 8 of those classes, I got A's. His - a C. And he talks way to much about himself and a class should not be 25% about the prof's personal life.

I liked Day, but he seems a little egotistical. I like how he treats students like adults, but some empathy would be nice. He is a pretty tough grader, and didn't give much feedback on exams. Also, 2 books? Mandatory Economist subscription and mandatory model UN? Seemed a little heavy.

He treats you like adults, but makes time to assist you if you need it. He is passionate about what he teaches and makes lectures interesting. He is a tough grader, but gives great feedback on papers.

Dr. Day is a wonderful person and professor, but his World Politics class is no joke. If you are not a Poli Sci major, just know that this is NOT an easy A. If you are a Poli Sci major, Dr. Day is super fun to take. His stories about his aid work are inspiring. I would definitely take him, but just know what you're getting yourself into.

Don't take this guy. He is super pretentious and all of his lectures are about himself and Africa. If you don't go to class, you won't pass. 2-3 page papers due every week, 2 take homes that last at least 6 hours, and a final where you analyze a 35 page article that is absolutely unbearable to read.

Listen, if you want an easy A don't take this class. If you want to learn some cool stuff and hear some great stories from a guy that's seen everything, this is the one for you. Day is pretty awesome and hilarious. 2 take home tests that take at least 6 hours and a bunch of little papers he calls memos.

I don't think he's a very good teacher. He tries too hard to be cool which is annoying. He does tell good stories, but this doesn't always help with the class material. And as everyone else notes, he's in love with himself. Class should be about the material, not the professor teaching it.

Great stories! Some times cocky however, you learn ALOT. He really likes himself but loves the subject matter more. Took his intro to african studies and learned a lot. Take his class! Hard grader.

Very interesting guy, has a ton of relevant life experience from being an aid worker in Africa for like 10 years, great story teller and easy to pay attention to... overall a pretty cool teacher. I wanted to take him again even though none of his classes would help me get to graduation. VERY IMPORTANT: Take good notes!

The best political science professor at the college and my personal favorite professor I've had all of college. Dr. Day has so much experience on the ground in Africa and so much insight on life to offer. Even if you aren't interested in African politics take Dr. Day at least once! You won't regret it.

He made the class very interesting with his experience and great stories. I liked attending class. It is not a hard class if you actually go. He is a little bit of a harsh grader, but does offer extra credit.

One of the best professors I've ever had! Has plenty of life stories to tell about his years volunteering in Africa and gives extremely interesting lectures. Very helpful and will take time out of his schedule to meet with you. I would highly recommend him!

Dr. Day comes across as cocky, but he backs it up with experience and knowledge. If you are interested in Africa, he is a must-take. He has high standards for papers, but if you put time into them and understand the content you will do well. POLI-395 is definitely worth taking with him.

He definitely knows what he is talking about, but the problem is that I don't feel he was able to convey it effectively to me or anybody else in the class. His stories provide great amusement. Assigns a lot of reading (it is an express class), but then never really discusses a lot of it.

I love this class, but it's not easy! You have to take good notes and attend class and do readings. Tests are not easy, but if you study, you'll do fine. Weekly memos are pretty easy too. He's a really interesting guy though and not at all boring.
