Professor Finkenthal is a very kind and understanding professor. He makes physics fun to learn and engages his students with his jokes and examples. He has weekly quizzes which he grades very generously. His exams reflect the labs as well as the quizzes. Overall he is an amazing professor and person.

Comment:

Does an amazing job of breaking down complex physics topics into easily relatable examples. Generous grader with quizzes, labs & HW. Exams are scantron, but he gives you practice exam with very similar questions. He keeps the class fun and interesting, easily in the top 10 best teachers I've ever had! If you have to take physics, take it with him

He is very helpful. Lectured before every lab so it was easy to follow and perform them. Very approachable and knowledgeable. Gave quizzes right after each lab, and you can use your lab book for the quiz. He is a big advocate for his students and professors. I bet his lecture was just as rewarding. Absolutely take him if you can.

Best teacher you will ever have! The class is difficult but only because the subject is difficult, not his instruction. He is always available to help students, lets you use notes on the tests and accepts late homework. He is incredibly smart and is always willing to work with you to help you get the most from his class.

He's as nice as he is educated. Really funny (moreso in 200, which he usually instructs). Rarely tests from homework/textbook problems: know the concepts and study the quizzes. The rigidity of the course was nonexistent, which can be a nightmare for those who want to know exactly what to study in order to get an A. It's hard, but any idiot can pass

Comment:

One of my favorite teachers ever. He is a complete genius if you talk to him outside of class, although he teaches at a level the average person can understand. He focuses on conceptually what is happening and then lets you use notecards on the test to make it easy. I would highly recommend him for physics. Oh and he is hilarious!

I enjoyed the class. He's not easy to get help from, but at least he can actually do it when you get a hold of him. The humorous comments and jokes that he tosses into his lectures are awesome. For the record: the tests and quizzes heavily emphasize concepts (even though lectures and bookwork focus on math).

This class is very hard for me. He is an easy grader on quizzes and homework, but tests are multiple choice - which means no partial credit. He is really funny, we are always laughing at the stories he makes up to explain the problems. He is definately a good teacher, I just don't get physics. I'm praying for a C...

Very cool physics teacher. He relates physics to real life situations. Understands that not all students love physics and are taking it, because they actually want to. Very helpful, and explains things well. Funny, and grades fairly easy. Labs help with the lectures if he is not your lecture teacher. recommended teacher over the others.

He knows his physics, also he's very funny and a nice guy. He's helpful when you ask him a question. Not very optimistic about the average person's ability to grasp basic physics, which hopefully doesn't crush the little people who look up to him. Many great scientists have had both genius and humility...
