Daniel was a very interesting and approachable person and very good at lecturing. We had a really tough final which killed my grade of the course. Would definitely pick him again if I do another math course.

Smart and funny professor with very fast-paced lectures. The best way to do well in this class is to review lecture notes and read the corresponding section of the textbook after every class. Clicker participation is 5% of the grade, but there were very few days with clicker questions, so it's a hit or a miss.

Great prof and really inspired my interest in applied mathematics. Always gave an real world example for each topic covered. Homework was on the heavy side but it did help with practise.

Hands down the most engaging math prof i have ever had. Made math not just bearable but downright enjoyable. Fair grading criteria and fair assesments until the final exam. The final exam was a whole new level of difficult, but the class avg was quite high going in, so it ended up okay.

Coombs is the best. Homework is difficult but rewarding, lectures are engaging and oftentimes hilarious, and testing is fair. He will open your eyes to the power of applied maths and is extremely talented at coming up with examples/homework which illustrate what's really important in a course. Do not miss the chance to take a course with him.

Apparently its good idea to make a MATH course all multiple choices with half individual and half group quizzes. Minimal calculations and mostly concept quizzes. BUT, instead of focusing on the theory, many people were caught up with pesky MATLAB Homework. Well, one day, I hope they make calculus 3 with all MC so I don't ever have to integrate LOL

Takes a laid back approach to math, making classes enjoyable and the subject matter easily approachable. His computer labs were interesting and definitely helpful in getting a better feel for material. Only wish that there were some non-multiple choice quizzes as the problems in the book are too simple to develop a strong command of some topics.

Daniel Coombs is a great math prof. His lectures are engaging, uses clickers sometimes to teach theorems rather than just having you copy down definitions. Gave us quizzes instead of midterms. One of the best math profs I've had!

Makes math interesting. However, the examples used in the course notes and in class are inconsistent with exams. Very frustrating to be expected to figure out what you need to know yourself!

Coombs was an amazing teacher. He made every lecture entertaining with his sense of humor and his boyish good looks. He always ensures everyone understands the material before moving on, and is always available for extra help. His tests were sometimes tricky, but always fair if you studied. I highly recommend taking any course that he teaches!
