he selected books that made me think. His lectures included a book about a guy who vacuumed a rug and got charged with murder for removing bacteria. Huh? the analogy is for abortion. when is it legal to remove an embryo? That single reading made the issue more understandable for me... i'm a guy, what do I know about pregnancy? Imaginative

This professor gives out 3 tests and drops one, so your grade is based on 2 Exams. WORST PROFESSOR EVER! No objective, the class is just him rambling on and on, which makes it extremely boring. He does not like discussions. The test are fairly straight forward, and would be easy if you understood the material. Horrible subject!

Comment:
I took this class online and I though it was going to be more kind of a discussion between students and professors, but not at all, Dr. McNaron didn't even comment on the discussions. The class only had weekly discussions, a MT and a final, which in my opinion he graded too hard and strict because he didn't teach anything the whole semester.

I only took this class because I had too and before going in, I had absolutely no interest in philosophy. After taking Professor McNaron, i LOVED the subject. He makes it so interesting. You have three tests and he drops the lowest and thats your final grade. Just listen to the lectures and take notes and you'll be perfectly fine. GREAT professor!!

I took Mcnaron for philosophy of science. It was pretty easy. Anyone that complains about my understanding ended up that way because they did not read the material before class. Articles can be hard to understand but go to class and he will explain the article in the simplest terms. TAKE GOOD NOTES. Exams are straight forward.

McNaron is very straight forward, there's 3 tests and he drops the lowest one. The average of the other two tests determines your grade in the class. Read ALL the material before class. You won't regret it as you'll follow what he's lecturing on. Besides that, his tests are reasonable as it'll be on stuff you'll learn throughout the course.

I was confused the entire class. He is all over the place in his lectures. Sometimes sounds like he doesn't even know what he is talking about. Only gives 3 tests and drops the lowest one. Does not give chance for makeups. Won't help you or answer questions if he doesn't fid it worthy to answer. If you're an athlete, good luck.

Comment:
McNaron is just an overall boring professor that can never seem to get his point across. He never gives the format of his tests and just assumes everyone knows what he's talking about. He can never clearly explain himself and doesn't have a clear grading criteria or rubric for his 4 page essay test. Just do yourself a favor and don't take him

This class would be boring if not taken with prof. McNaron. Loved him! He gives great midterm & final reviews so make sure you attend those; crucial to passing the exams. The material isn't easy BUT he teaches so well you leave understanding everything. I would def. take him again! Only downside is if you hate writing the tests are long essay Q's.

Honestly the best teacher I've ever had! Very knowledgable man who really gets you thinking. I took him for several philosophy courses and he really made each one enjoyable. There is lots of reading involved but he explains the readings thoroughly and fair grader. I learned a lot with him and would highly recommend him! Amazing professor!

Sometimes gives pop quizzes, weekly readings were easy, talks about ethics and morals. Can be compared more to a seminar or a session that makes you go 'huh, cool...' than a regular class lecture.

He is great! Some times he will come off as cocky, especially when he talks about what he STRONGLY believes in, but he doesn't mean to offend anyone. Just keep an open mind when going to his PHIL class. But whatever your belief is, his goal is to teach you how to argue and defend it. Overall, very approachable and kind professor.

Unless you're into philosphy, it's a boring class. The readings are dry and difficult. However, he explains it well, so you should pass. Overall he's a good teacher whose class is easy if you have the time to read. If you're into medicine, take biomedical ethics, it might be more interesting. Don't take any phil class online, it's super hard.

You'll notice: He can find a million different ways to say the exact thing. He will act like something is EXTREMELY cool or interesting, when it is just, meh. He loves his job, loves football, and loves western movies. He voice sounds kind of like Tom Hanks. And he will think you are an idiot if you share different beliefs than him (sometimes).

Buy the book, read the articles, take notes and ask questions. If you're capable of doing that, there is no reason for you to not receive an A. McNaron is an extremely intelligible man and amazing professor. You receive pop-reading comprehension quizzes almost everyday so it's important to ALWAYS read the assigned articles.

Great teacher! I took his class for biomedical ethics and got an A. He is very nice and will answer any questions after class/ office hours. You must do the required reading! Papers you write are graded for grammer and content.I also had him for modern philosophy (got A in this class). In both classes you choose your questions for the final.

I took both Ancient and Modern Philophy. Professor explains a lot, makes class interesting. Only bad is that there is not much time for the class so he skips many important subjects - does not have time to teach them but ask them in the final anyway. He does let you choose what to answer for the final. Overall, do recommend it, but you HAVE TO DO T
