Comment:

Filler is one of a kind. She really cares about her students, and is very thorough. She wants you to get a good grade, and so attending class is mandatory. Has hard homework, but is very willing to answer questions outside of class time. Is very organized, but sometimes too much and covers things we already knows. Group projects after most labs.

Comment:

At the beginning of the semester we had a group project after every lab. Wasn't a bad class but wasn't a good one either. You will fail if you skip and don't make it up. She was always available and ready to help outside of class which I appreciated. But she was quite rude in class at times and is not very understanding of students.

Does not give very clear direction on labs or on assignments. Is EXTREMELY critical when it comes to grading papers. Can tend to be rude at times. Beware when signing up for her class, and do NOT skip her class. Makes you change lab partners too much as well.

Filler is not a great professor. We were way behind in lecture, so we weren't on the same material as in lab, and she would get upset at us when we didn't know answers to things. Honestly, she freaked out at us for not having our coats off before our quizzes and would freak out if we were using our phone 5 minutes before class started.

Shes not very helpful when it comes to feedback on assignments. The lectures take up 85% of the class time and then youre given a sliver of time to do your lab. Shes very picky about all the work that you do and leaves no room for mistake.

Debby Filler is the most unapproachable teacher in Anoka-Ramsey. She makes you feel like you are stupid and don't know anything. If you are worried about getting called out in front of the whole class, she's not the professor for you. Her grading is tough and she will not change your grade if you feel otherwise. If you want to do well, don't take.

She is so inconsiderate and her grading methods dont make any sense. She just graded with no explanation. Shell expect things from you she was never explicit about. It would be about guessing from the clouds. You could put all your effort in her class and shell grade you with a low grade. She adds new things she looks for each time she grades.

I always wondered why Debby got such a bad rap, but now I know why. By far the most bizzare class I have ever taken at AR. Test prep material is non-existent and lectures are overwhelming and unforgiving. She knows her stuff, but teaches Micro like she is explaining it to other doctors. With Debby, your best effort is still not good enough. BE WARE

I came into the class fearful because of the reviews on this site; however, I was pleasantly surprised as the semester went on. Dr. Filler was kind, caring and had a passion for teaching. At times she could be strict on procedures, but overall she was always willing to help students out. By the end of the semester, I looked forward to lab.

Lab Only - BIOL 1106 Dr. Filler is old school. This is not a welcoming environment to learn in. She was often under-prepared, she doesn't value your time and often kept us 5 minutes late. Our lecture was behind the lab schedule and she was frustrated with us for not understanding just from the lab manual. Unless you already love biology, avoid.

She seems to be a sweet lady, but she also seems SUPER disorganized. The due dates on multiple assignments were wrong and not corrected all semester. She had really poor communication. Thankfully medical terminology is a very easy course and I was able to keep myself organized because she really stressed me out sometimes.

I had medical term. with Dr. Filler. She's a tough grader and makes you work for your grade but she has a heart of gold and she is very understanding of life's obstacles as long as you're honest. Do your work but reach out to her if you have trouble. She will help! I love her and she is one of the most caring professors I have ever had!

Professor filler was honestly a terrible prof. I enjoy science and she made class so difficult. She doesnt care about any of her students and is very rude. highly reccomend not taking her if you want to pass.

I would not recommend Dr. Filler. While the grading criteria is clear, she marks you down harshly for missed content in lab reports. Also, get ready to switch up lab partners and groups for group projects every two weeks...

Debby can be nice, and can be reasonable when it comes to assignment dates. But she just seems very unorganized. She takes forever to grade things and put them in. Very unclear as to how she even grades and what your grade is. We were supposed to get assigned a research assignment 10-12 days ago, and she still has not posted it. It is due in 2 days

She is unpredictable and can act very unprofessional at times. She will draw attention to students late to lecture, is bad at prep for major assignments, she once exploded on my lab section for grabbing materials even though she told us to get started, and acts like her class is your only class or responsibility. I am usually an A-B student

I feel that this class could have been made much more interesting but instead I spent more of the semester just wishing I had taken it with someone else. Extremely difficult tests. It was as if she expects you to already know the material before even coming into the semester. Strongly do not recommend.

Debby Filler had a rough semester when I had her as a professor just with life stuff so she started out as a hard ass but she eventually grows on you. She's a tough grader but if you follow the rubric she gives you religiously you will do well and learn a lot. Be prepared for group projects, although they end up helping you immensely in the end.
