Comment:

Dr. Severt is really cool. He gives clear definitions of how he wants the homework to be done and clearly defines everything you need to do. A chunk (4 or 5) of assignments were due every two weeks, which gave plenty of time to do them. There were a few discussion posts, but not so much to be annoying. Had lots of cool insights about service.

Comment:

Though his emails and examples may ramble, he does know the subject matter very well and wants to share it. The course is structured well for an online class and relies almost exclusively on the textbook. You will have to read the entire book front to back and summarize chapters and take quizzes weekly so be prepared for that.

dr. severt was hilarious. i never had any idea what was going on in this class, and i loved it. he took attendance but i don't think he's ever going to grade for it. we had to write summaries of the textbook and a few simple (500 words) papers, plus a movie project and another small project. not difficult at all, enjoy it!!

Honestly don't take him, and if you do good luck. It was never clear as to what was going on in the class. While Denver is a sweet guy, who cares about his students, he is incredibly unorganized and changed the syllabus multiple times.

Comment:

Dr. Severt is a riot! Such a fun class. Each class period felt like therapy where we could all unwind about work and learn techniques to overcome these challenges. Work load is comfortable; quizzes and essays switch off each week. Can see how his online class may be confusing since due dates change a lot and Webcourses isn't updated often.

So he gives 10 quizzes that are pretty easy. One is due about each week. He give 5 homework assignment that are papers not more then 750 words. He has a final and midterm paper also which is more then 1,000 words. His 2 video projects are kind of difficult but easy at the same time.

DON'T TAKE HIM ONLINE! I have heard he is pretty decent in person, but his online class is a joke. He does not know how to format things for online learning. Everything seemed like it would be much better fit for lecture. And he would give assignments and address us the same as his lecture students, which does not work well. I learned nothing!

Denver is unconventional, unlike any professor you have ever seen. He likes to try different learning tactics and does a good job getting you engaged. He is not a tough grader, Id say he is fair.

Book only needed for quizzes. Short essays every other week were easy enough but one massive video group project in an online class was horrific. a second individual video not as bad. has 4 modules that are just verbose theories that he made up. announcements also super wordy and i never knew what was going on. passed w/ B,but learned nothing.

Took online. One week an essay is due, the following week a quiz is due, and it keeps going like that for the rest of the semester. Essays are mainly about a certain type of experience you have had that goes with the lecture. Participate in the discussions, be prepared to have two video assignments. Make sure to read his announcements every week!

Professor Severt is one of my favorite teachers! He really cares about his students and is willing to do whatever he can to help them. I took his class completely online and it was fairly easy. There are two chapter quizzes (about 40 pages of material) every other week, with EASY assignments in-between. There is one BIG group project that is easy.

I took this class online by accident, however I did what I needed to do ( put my efforts) and pass. I really like it. I must admit the tests( or quizzes) were tricky but after a while you will get the hang of it. 2 projects and final. Im not an online type of person but If I can pass then anyone can.

My LEAST favorite class I've taken at UCF thus far. DO NOT take this class online. He doesn't put due dates in online, he sends you an announcement every other week with every single assignment he wants you to complete. His horrible grammar and confusing directions make everything a hassle. Ridiculous assignments and projects. Don't recommend.

This class is hard. Why? Because of the work load. Expect to be spending your entire semester on his class. It's as if he thinks u have no other classes. Group project that is hard to get everyone together when u are an online class. He is so unclear and all over the place. To top it off you have 2 essays due at the end of the semester. DONT TAKE

Do NOT take this class online. This was the most unstructured and confusing courses I've ever taken. The syllabus is all over the place. The instructions are all over the place. The deadlines are even all over the place. The class is not hard because its most common sense if you've worked in Hospitality but avoid this class. Extremely disorganized.

Prof. Severt was really helpful in this class. The assignments are fairly easy while still requiring you to learn, and the projects are actually kinda fun! I was surprised at how enjoyable this class was. Take this professor!!!

I took his Guest Service Management online class and it was great! As long as you read the chapter, the quizzes are fairly easy. He seems to grade very fairly with the papers and projects. I enjoyed the class and would defintely take him again!

Group Projects in this class are the worst in this class. Also, nothing will be clear about your assignments- ever. Great lectures though, worth going to class. Good luck trying to communicate with him outside of class, he never responds. No tests, but weekly quizzes and papers. Final projects are tedious. Barely need the book.

Dr. Severt is one of the best professors at Rosen! He cares for his students unlike any other professor, and is always available to lend a hand whenever needed. Very enthusiastic teaching style which helps, me at least, stay engaged during lectures... Class is not hard at all, but very rewarding... I would take Dr. Severt again in a heart beat!

Professor Severt is a great teacher. He has a very unqiue teaching style that takes a little while to get used to but, I loved coming to his class.
