Comment:

I had him for my first semester music theory class. Terrible. The only reason I passed that class is because I have played piano my whole life. He makes no sense and gets mad when you ask questions or don't get it. I highly suggest Dr.Powell. He is excellent.

Comment:

He expects students to have full knowledge of the material therefore he flies by it, rarely explaining anything. When he does, he goes over things once, does not describe it in detail & gets annoyed when you don?t understand and ask questions. He does not get up to write on the board or make sure piano fingering is right. Tests are graded harshly.

He is really not a good teacher. He is a great pianist but if you are wanting to learn from him you out of luck. He always ventures off on some strange explanaiton which should have taken two minuets that lasts for 15. Highly suggest you take class piano with someone else if you want to learn!

Where do I begin? I don't feel like I learned A THING in my lessons with him. He went on and on about bs in every lesson without actually giving me any type of helpful advice or tips. He's a very nice guy, but if you're looking to become a greater pianist, don't look to him for guidance.

If you have any basic music theory knowledge then this class makes it seem like you are in middle school. He explains things very well ... sometimes too well(lol). All this class requires is just a little bit of practicing to get an A.
