Hilde is an outstanding teacher. She does a great job of explaining specific concepts - you will learn a lot from her. Sometimes a bit unorganized, but not a big deal. Exams are NOT easy - you will definitely need to study. If you want to learn Spanish and are willing to put in some work, take Spanish with Hilde. You won't regret it!

Comment:

She's hilarious and makes class(that meets everyday) tolerable. Uses "Connect" for homework and you have to check it almost everyday to make sure you don't miss an assignment. Easy quizzes and Tests. Oral reports are easy and fun. Strongly recommend Hilde.

Very helpful, but a little scatterbrained. She once forgot to tell us about a composition that was due. LOTS OF ONLINE WORK. If you forget, your grade will suffer-and she doesn't tell you about it, you just have to check. Huge final project where you interview someone from a Spanish-speaking country. 2 exams, oral. You gotta check D2L frequently.

She is a great spanish professor! I had her last semester and the class was tough, REALLY NEED TO STUDY FOR QUIZZES. Exams are 15 min oral interviews, she grades pretty easy. I got a B in the class without doing TOO much work. Doesnt offer much extra credit so dont get behind. Skipping class is a mistake because you'll be totally lost!

Comment:

She wants you to learn the language, and this is a good class to take if you care about learning. If you care about passing and find Spanish difficult, take someone else. She makes the class fun. She's a very thorough instructor. Her Spanish as well as English is easy to understand. I enjoyed the class a lot.

Sra. Votaw is awesome! I've never really enjoyed Spanish all that much, but after having her I love it. She's a native speaker so she knows her stuff and she's fluent in English as well. She does have an accent when she speaks English, but she's very easy to understand. She's extremely funny and tries to make the class as enjoyable as possible.

Good prof. I had no problems understanding her accent. She is funny and likes students who put out effort. I had people in my class who didn't try and they just p'd her off. Not bad at all for an honors level course.

Votaw is very hard to understand, and I also got the impression that since Spanish was her first language, she expected the same from you, her grading was kind of shady too, but it came out in my favor, so I'm not complaining, just giving fair warning.
