loved her, loved this class! I never had any issues and all of her assignments seemed straight forward. i wasnt very interested in the subject but she got me interested! approaches the topic as more of an anthropologist. she likes to investigate what the art meant to the artist and society.

I'm an Art History major so I had an interest prior to taking this class. WORST MISTAKE EVER. Small is just as ancient as the class she teaches. Her lectures are snooze fests and she likes the sound of her own voice more than actually teaching her students relevant material. There was no final, but don't let that deceive you. Do not take her!

Prof. Small is great! I learned a lot and did well. As long as you pay attention to her and follow her directions you will get an A. She's straight forward so rather than memorizing facts you just have to describe the objects. Oh, and she's funny. Any teacher that shows a photo of Angelina Jolie dressed as Sarah Palin gets an A in my book.

WORST TEACHER AT RUTGERS! SWITCH OUT! The most boring lecturer in the world and then gives impossible tests where you have to memorize over 100 images and ridiculous papers. Only she is right and the token brown noser in the class. kills your gpa, do NOT take her.

She disagreed with something I wrote that wasn't even about art and gave me a C for it, costing me the overall A. She'll consistently say one thing when she wants you to do another. Exams consist of some 400 images each, but she never really teaches you anything of substance, just repeats a lot and expects you to regurgitate it. Waste of time.

Roman Art: she Cares more about grammar than actual paper content. does not answer questions directly, and is not afraid to humiliate. 'lack of final' is VERY decieving since the second quiz is so close to the end of the semester; the small number of assignments make this quiz on the same level as any mid term, final or project grade. STAY AWAY!!!!

Small is the type of professor where if you get along with her, and have a sense of humor, you will excel. I would not take her if you can't take a challenge, or put up with her quirks- and with that, I've done well in her class. But then again, I love ancient art and think she's hysterical. Plus she made me a better writer.

See, everyone hates her, but I think she's a riot. She's got a wonderfully dry humor and loves to pick on stupid students. Her papers are extremely difficult to get As on, but they are no more than 2 pages- which gives one alot of time to work on it. I'd say take her if you are looking for an interesting, quarky teacher.

never had a professor actually humilate their students instead of helping them understand the material. she is more conserned with her 50 rules for writing papers then the actual context or effort of her students. she needs to get off her high horse, stop being arrogant, or do us all a favor and retire! please if u read this, RETIRE!! Countless vase slides to memorize. Lack of assignments means ridiculously high project values for final grade. Going senile as well. The worst class and the worst professor I've had here. In fact, it wouldn't be out of the question to say she's one of the worst professors at rutgers. Tenure sucks when the professor is an arrogant jerk.

A Very knowledgeable professor who is extremely arrogant. Old School. Knit-picky. Has an interesting and quirky sense of humor. Not recommended to those who cannot write papers, nor those who hate the ancient world. Guaranteed to be boring.
