James Boren had me reading and understanding Chaucer within a week. I figuratively drank every word Dr. Boren spoke (and, thus, Chaucer) and was able to explicate The Canterbury Tales with ease and joy. His influence on my life is profound.

Not sure about the course number for Chaucer 30 ears ago....Dr. Boren was a great teacher- hard and a bit scary when it was time to read Middle English during office hours but knew his stuff and worked hard to make sure his students did too!

Professor Boren is the finest and most academically intimidating professor I've ever had the pleasure to be scared sh*!less by. His tests force you to have thoroughly and critically explored the course material and you will receive no extra points for **** or rote regurgitation. A pleasure for the hard working. A nightmare for the lazy.
