Comment:
Chen is a straight to the point professor. Lectures tend to be dry, but filled with helpful examples, and he's not the best at answering questions. Know how to use your calculator because you're going to need it. Exams are tricky, but there is a curve at the end. Dont slack on the final project! Team up and start it the day you get it.

Clear and straight forward approach to teaching. Tests are just like the homework, but he expects you to be very familiar with your calculator and calculation errors will result in half credit for the problem.

Dr. Chen knows his material. He is tough, but he is the one professor I wish I had for my academic career at SIUE. He teaches you the concepts that you need to know and answers questions clearly. One of the best professors in the ECE department and SIUE as a whole. Hard classes, but you will learn the material rock-solid. Highly recommend Dr. Chen!

Overall decent instructor, but not good at answering questions. He's funny in a subtle way and jokes constantly in class. You have to pay attention because he does review techniques he thinks you should know and puts them on the tests. Understand the homework and examples in class and you'll do fine on the tests.

Not a bad instructor. Go to class and do the homework. He gives a lot of tips in class for the tests.

Do Not Take Hime! He is one of those teachers that is good at teaching students who already know what they are doing. I basicly had to teach myself the material. I could have not gone to class and gotten the same amount of knowledge. His exams and quizes were never the same material as the homework.

I usually get straight A's, and this was an awful class. I've heard for upper level EE this guy is great, but for 210, avoid at all costs. The first test is simple enough, but watch out for #'s 2 and 3. With almost NO partial credit, each POINT (each prob is worth 5 points. minor mistake = 2/5) on the test is worth 1% of your final grade.

Good Professor, very helpful. Takes a bit to figure out his teaching style. The 2 days before an exam he goes over all the problems with the class. Super helpful

Dr Chen is one of the best EE professors at SIUE. He has a very clear approach and wise teaching objectives. He teaches you the basics from most of the topics of the subject. Which will later help you to solve complex problems. Also makes communications available for whoever wants to learn it. He has the ability simplify a complex subject.

drink as much coffee as you want and i bet you'll still fall asleep. a "review" before the test consists of him telling you to go over all the material in the book, notes, and homework. really good at narrowing it down. good luck on your fina
