Comment:

Easy A for online art appreciation. Everything is opened up at the beginning of the semester and you can work ahead on quizzes and stuff. Tests are open book and don't have essays. You have to remember to post in the forum though, she's big on the deadlines for that. If you miss a posting, you are out of luck. Overall, I learned a lot about art.

Costa doesn't deserve a 1/5. If 0 were an option, that is what I would have given her. Do yourself a favor and take this one with a different professor. Lots of great ones to choose from at ICC. This one isn't one of them. The worst instructor I've had by far.

Costa is not a professor I recommend. If you do take this course I highly recommend reading the syllabus carefully. When it comes to grading she is unforgiving in most cases. Also very unforgiving if trying to resubmit an assignment or having submission issues in general even if completed on time. And overall, a very nit picky grader.

Costa always answered my emails. Class was super tough but fun. She was easily approachable and pushed me to work hard for my grade. I realize after this class im never going to be a 3d person. She gives everyone the opportunity to redo their project for a better grade. If you have questions in class she gives good feedback.

This was by far the worst art class I have ever taken. She expects way too much from you in a beginners class. She saw how much I struggled and whenever I would ask for help she wouldn't give me any helpful feedback. She doesn't care about your effort at all. She doesn't offer lab hours except an hour before or after class to work on projects.

If you make one mistake, automatic 25% of the project's grade taken off. She expects you to do work outside of class but if you don't have a place like a garage to do messy work, you're SOL. Doesn't give good feedback, until the critique, then she'll give you lots of good advice. Don't expect her to check emails quickly or at all on weekends.

Super tough grader and doesn't specify what she wants from you. Barely answers emails, so make sure you have questions ready 3-5 days before you need them answered. If you don't do the participation (which she never tells you about) then you won't do well. She takes off 25% for one mistake, grades terrible.

Jennifer would assign projects every week which took hours outside of class to complete. I never felt like I improved on my art because she never gave any construction or offered advice while working on the project. I spent countless hours up til 2 and 3 o clock in the morning trying to complete projects to earn B's or C's because I was struggling.

Best instructor of the semester, was absolutely a great teacher and overall great woman. Cares deeply about her profession and treats her students like adults. Understands its an entry level art class and treats it as such, no excessive homework. Very clear, informative, and easy.

Super easy! As long as you respond to weekly discussion boards you get full credit. You have quizzes every week which are simple and occasional papers which are also very easy. Pretend like you care and you'll get an A!

VERY STRICT ON GRADING. She tells you this from day one. It's an easy class to pass, but it's hard to get an A.You really need to put time and effort into your stuff.On the other hand, she's an amazing teacher and a great resource. I learned more in this class than I've learned anywhere else about art careers and colleges, plus the course material.

She usually responds to emails within a day or two, however she is not always very helpful. She is very strict on grading. She literally took 25% off of the grade on one of my midterm essay responses for using Bing dictionary rather than Websters. She does not explain grading for the most part. Not happy with this class at all.

She's nice most of the time, but she's an extremely hard grader. She'll let you slide maybe once if you have a legit enough reason. For an intro level class, she graded a little too tough. Most of the projects were mundane and too specific. If your a punctual person who shows up on time and turns in assignments on time, she'll be easy on you.

If you want to be a better artist then take her class!! I took 120 & 222..and She does NOT have favorites you just need to COMMUNICATE with her,ASK questions,have a desire to LEARN and improve your Skills(no matter what level they are)and she will go above n beyond to help you improve as an Artist!
