Comment:

For starters, this class has an obscene amount of homework, so strap in for that (actually takes a few hours each time). Burkhardt is a good instructor, but sometimes confused by students' questions. Worst thing about him is that is that he is super strict with grading, so getting an A (or even a B) is quite a task. Overall great, just difficult.

Comment:

Steep learning curve at first but once you get used to it he makes the material very digestible. The equation sheet he gave for Analytical material methods was superb and continues to be useful, even in graduate school.

Comment:

Fairly often he can't figure out the problems himself in lecture. Tests are tough, if he even provides a study guide, he doesn't use anything close on the exam. best bet is to try to do the homeworks and study for exams with those. However, as a person he is a pretty nice guy.

While is notes are a bit disorganized, he isn't the type of professor that's "out to get" his students. His exams are fairly straight forward and follow the homework to the T. At times, I figured he could make the exams a lot more difficult than what they really were (in accordance with the material being studied). He's fair.

Prof Burkhardt helps out a lot and answers all questions asked in class. The material is hard, but he will help if you ask. He gives partial credit on tests, and the tests are fair.

Professor Burkhardt has a steep learning curve, but once you know what he is testing for in regards to the course material it is easy to study for his tests. He is a hard grader, but he is VERY willing to work with students and is a great guy. You have to go to him for help, and you will succeed. Good luck!

Although "scatter brained" at times.. a lot of time... he is a really good teacher. He is a fair grader compared to other statics teachers and is available for EI. Extremely nice guy.. if you don't have your hw just tell him you'll get it to him and he'll be ok with it. Great prof, got him for dynamics next semester

This class is a joke. Barely any organization to his classes. He often forgets to bring his lesson notes and/or book to class, so he has a hard time explaining concepts. Writes up the crazy equations, but never does any example problems so you never see what data goes where. If this class wasn't so easy I would be failing. He is not very competent.

i really liked this guy. he was a really good teacher. seriously, try to get him if you want an easy time in statics cause his homework load isn't that bad but you still learn everything

O.K. prof. Fairly rough grader on quizes and tests that is unforgiving and he really doesnt know the material all that well it seems. Expect a quiz weekly and HW every friday. Just study and you can get an A.. in his class you get what you earn generally.

John Burkhardt is not a good teacher. He grades unfairly and changes his mind/answer key multiple times each test. He never completes examples and rarely starts them correctly. I am positive that he would fail the final if he took it.

This guys straight up sucks. He consistently makes mistakes on the board, doesn't do examples, doesn't care about the class, and is generally apathetic. Avoid this teacher. If you get him, spend an entire semester laughing at him, then switch to econ.

This teacher is very lazy, doesn't have the slightest idea how to teach the material in a way that helps you solve problems.He spends way too much time on theory, I don't think I have ever seen a complete example inclass. He basically screwed the entire class over, do not even think about this prof.

Horrible prof. Laziest teach I've ever had. He doesn't even bother to grade your homework. EI with him is sometimes hard to get. It is hard to get him to do examples in class. All he wants to do is derive equations. I'd get Leech if I had to choose again.
