He is a professional artist and his teaching style is very easy to follow. He grades quickly and allows late turn in. His feedback is very smart and useful. It is super easy if you have some knowledge about Adobe Photoshop and Illustration. His assignments are creative and interesting. It's easy A+.

Comment:

I loved his online Foundations of Graphics Design. The course is very go at your own pace(no late penaltiesat all). The book is affordable and he gives very through feedback on your work. He really encourages you to use your own imagery which I am grateful I and others did because it makes the class much more engaging. Would definitely recommend!

He's the best art prof! art major wise; he's very helpful! and gives good feedback, teaches the basic thoroughly and as long as you show effort you will be graded accordingly. funny and replies you quick. i took him spring 2016 and i wish he stayed in foothill for me to take ART4b :( come back joe!!

Spring 2016 is his last quarter at Foothill before retiring, but Joe is so much fun and really easy class. He does his best to help out his students and this class was a really easy A. Give your best effort and he will give you an A.

Teaching? What's that? The class in a nutshell - read the textbook (not a very good one), do the exercises at the end of the chapter, post your solution online, get credit. No useful feedback whatsoever. Don't bother - buy the book and read it yourself. On the plus side, if you are looking for an easy class, it could work.

Joe is definitely a great professor! He provide students some helpful videos so that we can learn from them. He gives out a lot of chances to get higher grades in drawing, also give you personal feedback. No tests, no quizzes, just come to class often then you will get an easy A. I'll take his class again.

Great teacher. Easy to get an A if you do the work. Every two weeks you'll have three assignments, one will be a critique of a digital artist, the second will be the draft of your work (including thumbnail sketches of ideas) and then the third is your final. He does videos critiques and offers suggestions for your drafts and finals.

Joe is a great teacher! He has taught me a lot, and I've taken many of his art classes. Although at first I felt pretty unsure about my major or what I wanted to study, he helped me give me insight on what I should do. He's willing to help you if you need it. I want to apply myself and work harder in his next classes I have to take.

He has taught me so much in art. He knows his stuff, and offers his criticism-which must be taken. I learned the hard way-He usually is right. I have grown from him, taken all of his art classes! He has made a huge impact on my life- he only expects great things from "Art kids" and those for fun, it's easy, he just wants you try and you get an "A"!

If you can take an in-person class with him, do it. He has a lot of industry knowledge and artistic training to impart. He can tell you in 2 minutes what it takes weeks in an on-line course. He cares about his student's learning and seems pretty up on the latest technology. Better at in-person than on-line.

I loved this class and the freedom to explore digital art. Instructor was helpful and promptly answered my questions. It was a good class for me because I was a beginner.
