Not the most exciting class, but you will leave feeling like you learned something. Lectures weren't that interesting, unless she strayed off topic, then it was really fun to be in class. She has a clear syllabus, grading rubric, and expectations that guarantee an A if you pay attention.

She's just plain awful. Her lectures are extremely unclear and her notes on the chalkboard are impossible to read. Extremely biased politically and makes no attempt to hide it. Do yourself a favor and take any class but her's.

I took her for the Focal Point Seminar and while she's nicer than she looks, I found her class a little confusing/boring even though I liked the topic. Lots of reading and participation was necessary in class otherwise it was just awkward but she did make herself available for help. Always managed to talk about her kids which got old fast.

Do not take this teacher. The notes she writes on the board are scattered and out of order and she trails off about her children and Asia during lectures so you can never understand what she is trying to say. She is a sweet woman but I have literally learned nothing in the class.

Professor Ibata-Aryans is awesome, she is really nice, and likes a lot of class engagement. She also didn't rely solely on the textbook for material, and a lot of class discussions were based on current events in the news which made things really interesting. If you do the work, and participate in class, you will be just fine.

I love this teacher. I enjoyed her class so much. She made the class so fun and interactive. I have never had so much fun learning about politics. The work was easy and the midterm wasn't bad.

She will scare the piss out of you on purpose; I remember she lambasted some kid who was late to class the first week and told him "slackers will not do well in my class," causing him to get so flustered that he walked out of class without grabbing his bag. Anyway, she's completely fair but very stringent; I got an A, and didn't think it was hard.

Seriously if you have an opportunity, take her class. She'll scare the hell out of you, and you'll have to do a ridiculous amount of work, but it's worth it. You'll learn more than you will in any other class. She's somewhat of a tightwad, but she's extremely fair and absurdly intelligent. She does not suffer slackers though.

idk what to say exactly about her. she hated me all quarter, but then i ended up with an A. the reseach paper sucks, but i think as long as you seriously try and show her that she will give you an A. attendance is mandatory always which sucks, but this class really isn't gonna be fun regardless.

Well it was fun taking a class with her! She made us frightened the first day of class. I thought i made a huge mistake! just participate in class complete all assignement which she gives alot but doesnt really care how u do them , i mean as far as good or bad. Turned out good 4 me !

Fair class at best. Asian Politics was interesting and the reading was relavant. The teacher is a bit of a hard nose though. She is very busy with her own reserch and her family and has very little patience or time for students. Graded students harshly considering her poor teaching skills and seemed to favor those of asian decent.

I really liked this teacher. One of the best i've had yet. She seems strict on the first day, but once you get settled in and she gets to know you she is actually very easy. If you don't like class discussion DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Participation is huge. Easy tests, long papers, i got an A.

I, for one, liked her. She definitely keeps you on your toes and you walk away feeling like you really learned something. Avoid her if you are on the lazy side, as she will not be lenient. She's an intelligent woman who expects a lot from her students. And she's not nearly as bad as everyone makes her seem ... it is only for the first few days.

Just absolutely dreadful. I suffered through the entire quarter, earned my A, and have avoided her at all costs for the rest of my time at DePaul. Ugh...horrendous!
