intro to social science was a bird course! i got an A in that course! i absolutely love Mackinnon, the ONLY WAY to ace that course is to do what i tell you. the focus of the exams is 80% on the lecture, so write down EVERYTHING he says, don't look at the powerpoint just write down everything he says, from random facts to statistics

I'm a science student and this was my favourite class in my 3 years at UTSC. He's HILARIOUS in a cranky kind of way and I thoroughly enjoyed his lectures. He can kind of mumble a bit, but it's not a big deal. He's actually my favourite prof.

He is my favorurite professor. I think he is one of the best professors at UTSC. I took the first year sociology course as an elective. His lectures made me love sociology and I ended up doing a minor in it. He is very fair in his exams. I learnt a lot from him. He really wants his students to do good. I wish more professors are like him.

This prof is amazing! there is only ONE RULE to get an A+ in his class, and that's righting down every single thing he says, because his exams are based on details of the lectures. If you re read all the lectures+some of the textbook, you're looking at an A!

Lectures and lecture notes will benefit you greatly, so make sure to attend as he highlights many topics and examples that are relevant and will be on the exams. He has quite a funny sarcastic humour to him. A relatively easy course. Make sure to know your definitions.

One of the better profs UTSC has. Always willing to help during office hours. Mackinnon uses excellent examples during lectures. exams easy as long as you study/attend lectures. Extremely intelligent man who will never talk down to anyone. Students who have a problem with his style or personality need to examine themselves. Prof Mack rules!

Prof. MacKinnon is an excellent professor. I have been out of the classroom for over 20 years. Was able to score A on his final. Listen to highlighted points that he stresses, know the terms, follow his powerpoint and read book. Would be more beneficial to read book prior to class. He is an excellent prof. Thumbs up!

He was a bit boring but his jokes were pretty funny. Slides were not greatly organized. Definitely read the textbook. Exam is organized in three parts: lecture, textbook, mini textbook (forgot the names) so he will go in depth in each part. matching portion of exams will throw you off. know definitions inside out!

MacKinnon is a good lecturer, as he condenses the material to key points and explains it well. He gives solid examples and has excellent power points. I did not enjoy the controversial elements of his lectures, at points we was biased towards a particular view which were often more armchair opinions than good scientific information.

I think that he was actually quite boring. His lectures make you want to fall asleep, and I actually found that reading the textbook was more efficient than attending his lectures, despite lectures amounting to a certain percentage of exams. This can be said about Sociology Pt II as well - SOCA02H3

I LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS PROF! I passed his class with a solid A, and all I did was simply memorize my lecture notes and skim the readings from the textbook. His examples are hillarious, and he has a little swag about him. The course's content is very interesting, and he does a great job teaching it.

One of my favourite profs. keeps the lectures interesting, cuts down the readings near midterms and finals. He looks really serious and intimidating, but hes really funny. The exams arent too bad. no assignments just 2 exams all multiple choice and matching. he doesnt try to trick you so i thought they were alright. Awesome prof!

I thought he was going to be a horrible prof because he talks really slow but he was actually very good ! His slow pace helped when I was taking notes and he can be really funny ! Class is super easy if you attend all the lectures, overall I really enjoyed the class and prof ! Time slot in the evening was good too !

He is a good professor. He knows what he is talking about and that in itself is helpful. This isn?t a bird course but you really shouldn?t be hoping for bird courses in University. His examples are relevant and sometimes quite funny, as long as you apply yourself this course won?t harm you.
