Can we just talk about the midterm? The fact they spent 30+ minutes running back and forth from the printer because they continuously didnt have enough exams was bad enough, but it was never even addressed after the fact. Mark is a great guy, but his class will not be easy. Study and take good notes.

Mark loves to justify himself with his 'find the ball' mantra but the truth is that this is one of the least student-friendly courses I've EVER taken. Don't get me wrong, Mark knows what he's talking about, but his lecture delivery only gets worse as the year goes on. If you have little to no experience with stats going into this class, good luck.

He is very difficult to understand and tends to talk about things that dont matter on the final or for the actual content. Being forced to be online cut out some of these issues, but still wasnt enough. No clue how I pulled off an A I was confused often. If you havent taken a stats class before you really wont know whats going on

Does not lecture anything specifically on tests. Many people say he just makes you work for it, but attending every class and trying your best does not mean you should get a C. Having to teach yourself is not just "working for it" the professor should teach what he is testing,

This class is awful. I absolutely can not stand him as a professor, he doesn't care about the students AT ALL. He doesn't teach anything and assumes you already know it. Too bad KU doesn't offer another professor to teach this class because everyone is stuck with him. The final is multiple choice and 20 questions where it equals 30% of your grade.

Everyone who says this class is impossible is just soft. If you put in effort, an A is very attainable. All you have to do is pay attention and take notes, the quizzes aren't very hard and getting to the max of 600HQL points is a breeze. All these softies just want government handouts when Mark wants you to actually work for it. Great Class.

Mark believes that each student should work very hard for their grade and leave nothing up for chance. The whole classes points basically come from the final where each question has options A-K. The other points come from a 5 question midterm and incredibly difficult quizzes. I was confused 100% of the time

Mark gets a lot of flack for being a bad guy, but he really just wants students to learn the material. If you put the work in and study the notes along with the practice sets, it's really not that bad. Easy C, Manageable B, A is possible if you work for it.

Throughout my college career, Mark Haug is by far the most intelligent professor Ive ever had, but that intelligence does not translate to his teaching abilities whatsoever. He makes the final impossibly hard, out of the 60-some pages of practice problems, zero (or anything similar) were on the final exam. Getting all 600 HQL points is a MUST.

Mark is suck, he sets the final exam to 40% of the total grade, and the answer options are from a to i. Would it seem smart to you to do this? No, if you need to examine what you want, you should tell us in your daily homework, but you didn't do it! All my classes are A, DSCI202 I got B, irrational setting caused the final exam to count on luck!

That's an unfair grading system. Everyone stands at the same starting line, 600 points and competes for the final exam. If you failed to get 300 points, we lost A!! Mark is the most terrible professor. You learned nothing from him. You definitely should break with people who recommend this guy to you!!

I spent 18+ hours studying for his final from the review packet that he gave us just to show up to the final and have it been on everything except for what he gave us to study.

This was the worst class I've ever taken. Nothing I learned in class and lab or studied was on the final. He is a terrible professor and doesn't have to care because he makes bank.

Both DSCI 202 and 302 are hard. Mark's an incredibly smart guy and if you actually may attention and put in effort, you learn some things from him. Both class kind of have a whack grading system, but if you go to class and spend the time studying for the final like you would any other final instead of complaining about it, it really isnt that bad.

Mark Haug is one of those professors who just are too smart to teach. He moves too quickly and doesn't understand why we don't get his lecture. I relied ENTIRELY on TAs because they actually know what you're going through - Mark is just too unapproachable. It's like he already knew statistics coming out of the womb...

Mark Haug is a very poor communicator. This complicates many things about his statistics class. 1) He does not clarify key points in class, so be ready to learn everything you cover in class on your own 2) He'll tell long stories in class that aren't relevant to the topic 3) He will not give sufficient answers to questions asked in lecture 0/10

Maybe the first time in my life I can confidently say I understand how to apply statistics and probability to practical applications. If you're going to take this class just make sure to go to class, and listen. I would suggest sitting in the front to avoid getting distracted and to make sure you can listen to everything he teaches.

To start, I took this class during the summer. If you can fit it in your schedule.... DO IT!!!! you won't be disappointed. He totally changes how he teaches the class for the summer and is much more personable. Wasn't a huge fan of him after 202 but he defiantly changed my overall thought of him after taking him during the summer. Do your work A+

Hes a very intelligent person, but his teaching skills are just SO bad. He expects people to be an expert on 35 formulas he talks about for 2 minutes during lecture, he spends more time talking about stories that relate to the problem than actually doing the problem. Utilize your TAs, do the study set problems and STUDY, lots and lots of studying
