I took this course through the ITV Weekend Program, and let me tell you that this man is very underrated. For me, this class was not that hard, but I had to read and memorize. His lectures are charged with interesting facts about anthropology and history. I would recommend him, but at the end, it is up to the student to choose.

He's extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter he teaches, and if you listen his lectures are very interesting, although he does tend to go on tangents. He's very kind and helpful too.

dont bother emailing, dont bother listening to his study guides or him. his lectures are monotone, extremely boring and about himself. HIs lectures are not applicable to the text and he is not helpful to getting a good grade. 4 tests and attendances is your grade thats it. id stay away it was a ruthless and miserable class.

Took him in the summer and he was ineffective, disorganized & absent minded. He would wander and go on tangents for a majority of the class. The topic is very interesting but he has a very hard time sticking to the point. What he did talk about would be fine if it was pertinent and on the exams but most of his tangents were not.

Comment:
The class is very confusing, he goes off topic a lot and he covers the whole book so there is a lot of cramming at the end. I would recommend another prof because it would not be an easy class to pass. He is also very picky. He is helpful, but confusing :(

Comment:
The class is difficult and goes off topic, his quizzes have very tricky questions consisting of 3-5 chapters. Midterm is from 1-6 Chapters. Preferred to get quizzes every 2 chapters, since we do cover a lot of info. There is no extra credit, bombarded w/ hmwk at the end of fall semester, 3 wks before class is over.Inconsistent with syllabus.

Comment:
The class is hard because he tells great stories that go way off topic, the tests are 3-6 chapters at a time (60-125 multiple choice questions), and he takes a 20-40 min break in the middle of a 3 hours class!! So it's hard not to leave. Use the study guide.

Dr. Cohen is a good professor. It seems that he does talk a lot (duh, it's a lecture) but I think that when people say that he talks a lot, it's because of his voice (very mellow, which one would feel it to be boring in a 3hr lecture). But he is intelligent and knows what he's talking about. Plus, he gives his students chances and he's reasonable:)

Professor Cohen is easy to listen to. I find him entertaining and it's funny that I'm being taught at the same time. I'm sitting in his summer class RIGHT NOW and just had to make sure I rated him. I would recommend him, he is fair and one of the best teachers I have had here at LACC.

Dr. Cohen is a very nice, funny, professor. He actually cares about Anthropology and doesn't seem jaded like most professors at LACC. The lectures are a littttle boring but which class isn't? The final is pretty hard but I recommend his class.

He is a really nice professor. His tests are not hard. But he makes you stay till the very last minute of class. He doesn't give you notes and you need to take notes what he says. (I don't like that) Overall he is a good teacher.

Overall, not a bad professor. My only complaint I have about him is that he started the class late alsmot daily, so that left less time for him to lecture and he then would rush through some of the chapters. But he does explain things farily well.
