Comes off as very intimidating at the outset but seems to have a genuine desire to connect with his students. Whip-smart and confident in his knowledge of the topic. VERY loosely structured conversation-based class with a big ol' paper at the end of the semester. Not really my jam, but I respect the guy. Average class overall

Comment:

I took this class to fulfill a LART requirement. Whatever you do, don't take him for a Gen Ed class. He is way harder than any other professor, and is generally pretty unhelpful. His class often feels like a game that you cannot win. Learn from my mistake: take somebody else for Intro to the Bible.

"Bowties are cool." 'Nuff said. But in all seriousness, he's a good guy and a good prof. He only lost points because it's pure lecture, which can sometimes get dry. Also, be warned, his tests aren't the easiest so prepare well!

Dr. Strege is kind of boring.. however he is a good guy. Sometimes I get the feeling that he is full of himself. He constantly talks about the book he is working on and things of that nature. He is also very intimidating. Still, he's an overall nice guy and I feel like he truly cares about people.

Seems to be a great guy, but was unable to get my freshman class to focus on the material. This is a discussion-based class, but Strege failed to reign in the idiocy that dominated my class. He is very focused and knowledgeable. I suspect he is much better in upper division courses, which I will not hesitate to take.

Needs to work on voice control, but otherwise wonderful. Hard to hear him if you sit in the back and has the kind of voice that makes you wonder if he was a hypnotist in another life. He is more interested in developing character and actually educating than he is in giving a grade (definitely a plus).
