Comment:

I took Professor Dixon for Human Biology over the summer of 2019. He was absolutely amazing! Such a nice person. Science isn't my strong point but I still learned and did fairly well, considering my past in science classes. The amount of work wasn't overwhelming even for my first summer class and he was there to answer any questions.

Comment:

He would always go super fast during his notes, and not put everything on the slideshows he used, and instead talked A LOT. And when he had "study sessions", he would plan them during our labs that we could not miss. The tests were worded differently than what he gives in class, so if you're one of those people who needs exact answers, good luck.

Comment:

Graded only on tests and pop quizzes in class. the quizzes are his way of checking attendance and you never know when they going to be. He is very straight forward, but I personally didnt like his teaching style. He is well liked and his classes always fill up first.

i have never had so much trouble in any of my classes until i took him. i had strenth last semester for man and the environment and i heard dixon was good so i took his class instead and highly regret it. crams a bunch of info in each class so u never know what to study.

He was a great professor and gave all the materials needed to pass his class and make an A in it. As long as you go to class and take notes especially on the things he says you will do great! He is very helpful and accessible outside of class. He wants his students to succeed so he will help if you need it.

Great teacher and human being! He covers a LOT of material and I have to echo that it's hard to know what exactly to study for exams. Show up, pay attention, take good notes, and you'll make it through.

the only grades you have are the tests and small attendance grades. Tests are really hard, its hard to know what to study for. You have to study the slides and notes and hope for the best honestly.

If you miss class you will fall behind. He does show powerpoints during lecture but tells you not to write word for word and write down his "stories" because it will help you remember the topic (didn't help me). He does put all of the powerpoints on blackboard every week and says that's what the tests are over but the powerpoints didn't help.

He's a good lecturer, but he only talks about part of what you'll be tested over. And tests are everything, you have like 4 tests, which are very hard, and very little else is for a grade so if you bomb 1 of them you can't really make it up unless all the others are near perfect. Which seems almost impossible.

Awesome class! It is one of my favorites, the lectures are interesting and he always engages with students asking for questions. Gives lots of opportunities to get more points, if you have an A you don't have to take the final!

Dr. Dixon can come off as unorganized from time to time. His lectures can be frustrating, also. Dixon does not give the class enough time to write down the notes so we have to wait until the end of the week to get what we missed. The tests are difficult and go to class because he gives in class assignments and homework.

He has long but interesting lectures. He can sometimes be a bit disorganized but what I like about him is that he does not just read off the PowerPoints. His tests are fairly simple. If you study for about 5 hours before each test, you should be good. Also, if you have an A in the class before the final, you do not have to take the final!

He never graded any assignments that he asked to do. I wonder why he asked such a homework that he didn't even grade until the class finish. Me and many students had to ask him to grade our homework, but he always said he will.
