Do NOT take this guy. I almost feel bad for him. I believe he has a serious case of alzheimers or something. We would come to class, listen to him read off of a powerpoint for 10 minutes and not explain ANYTHING, and then get assigned hours worth of homework from the book which was only worth 2 points!! Avoid like the plauge!

Worst Professor I've ever had. Told me I HAD to buy the book, and we don't use it at all. Class is supposed to be 2 hours but is 15 mins long. BORING and a pointless class. Your allowed to use a notecard, and I had the entire study guide on my notecard and still got C's on my exams and i'm an all A student. Can't understand a word the guy says. horrible experience.

Shields is a nice guy. He gives boring lectures though. The exams are multiple choice and essay. The multiple choice are right from the notes. He gives you the essay questions before hand, and you can use a note card. DO NOT buy the textbook. This class takes no effort, just study for the exams and you will do good.

Really easy class if you are looking for a filler in your schedule. Tests are essay and multiple choice, but you get the questions ahead of time for the essay and answers are straight from the notes. If you don't do well in this class, you might as well go pick up an application at McDonald's.

Take this class and you will get a good grade as long as you show up. 3 tests the entire semester and you can use a notecard on each test. Attendence is the 4th part of you grade. Shields is kind of goofy but overall a nice guy.

Do you consider yourself smart? Do you want to learn? Yes! Well, this professor is NOT for you! Class is super easy - you will learn nothing more than you did in high school. In fact, you won't even cover half of what you did in highschool. Shields is a goofy guy - probably a genious when he was younger, but I think his brain has burned out.

He's a goofy guy. The entire class grade consisted of 3 exams, including the final. THAT'S IT!! It's a pretty easy class considering you can use a 3x5 notecard on all exams. I definately recommend him!

The class is very boring, but it's economics how exciting can it be?! He's a very funny guy, very sweet. The class is boring he takes attendance every day. The exams are very easy he lets you have a notecard on them. He also gives practice exams and study guides, if you study from those you will do fine.

Dr. Shields is smart, but his lectures are hard to follow. I've never had trouble following lectures with any other profs. Despite this, I got an A without much studying or reading. He always provided helpful study guides and let us use a cheat sheet. It's an easy A, but you won't learn much econ unless you read the book.

Shields is a really nice guy and trys to help but his class is pointless to go to. I havent learned much, but somehow I am getting an A in the class. He gives study guides before exams and gives extra credit for coming to class. I recommend taking this class if you like getting A's.

Dr. Shields is a nice man, but quite frankly I would never take him for a class again and I am an econ major. He came off as very intellegent, but very socially inept, like the John Nash on the movie "Beautiful Mind." I comes off as very scatter

Dr. Shields knows his stuff. At first it may be hard to follow his lectures, but you get used to it quickly and then they are crystal clear. His tests are all essay but he is fair. I recommend everyone in the grad program take him and this class.
