WORST professor I've ever had... He doesn't care about the students. He acts like Chemistry should be your passion in life since it's his. He is VERY rude. He also does an example and then says "DUH..." My advice is to save your time and effort, take the class during a semester when he's not teaching.

Great professor. Dr Van De Mark is an expert in his field and shows it. He goes above and beyond the requirements of teaching organic chemistry by showing how a person could actually apply stuff from organic chemistry class to real life. Truly a walking database of information and very willing to help you learn.

This teacher basically told me that I needed to study twenty hours a week, spent an hour talking to me about himself when I had come to get help. I don't understand anything he tries to explain. He really only cares about himself and his chemistry.

Very hard class, he sucks at teaching it, before i took his class, I loved org chem. Now, he has ruined it for me, and I don't like him for that. Nice person outside of class, inside class he thinks his class is the only one that we have to study for. HE sucks!

his tests blow! As a person he's very nice but as a teacher I think he needs to realize that we have never seen the material. His teaching style assumes that we catch on extremely quickly. Don't expect any higher than a C.

No professor in this school knows more chemistry than Mark Van De Mark. He has lots of help sessions, and although dry, he tells some funny jokes. Makes love with his coffee. Once ruined a couples sex extravaganza with a giant block of sodium.

He is a good teacher and he is fair. He knows his stuff but sometimes he runs away with the material, if you dont have a firm grasp on the chapter you will get lost. Sometimes gets a little hyper talking about ketones...but who wouldn't?
