He is a super interesting and smart professor. Make sure you read the chapters in the textbook in order to pass the exams. The exams sometimes go way more in-depth than what was covered in class and he is not very specific on what exactly will be on the exam. Typically the chapter numbers, for example, 1-4, would be all that was given.

Comment:

One of the hardest, but best teachers I've ever had. Had him for 301, 401, 411, 465, 495, and med term. Be ready to read, but he explains material extremely well. He's a curmudgeon for sure, but secretly has a heart of gold. Respect him and he'll respect you. Also, he's not as scary as he seems.

Dr. Rutland is a great guy who knows a lot more than just Health and Wellness. The textbook material didn't interest me at all, but he is a very good professor nonetheless. Try to particpate in his discussions because it can be interesting if you allow it to be.
