I loved having Dr. Deering as a professor. She really has a wonderful way of making you feel special. She invites you to come to her house for help, and she is available for anything everyday. I wish UNLV would have kept her as a part-time professor, but they'd rather hire foreign graduate assistants to teach her class. It is sad!

Dr. Deering dedicated all of her time to our class and our success. Sometimes a little quarky but always very helpful and loving. This is not a class for whimps though, or people who do not like to work or put effort in, or people who can't take constructive critizism but she is wonderful and will make you a better teacher and student

She is very passionate about teaching and English. If you are not a good writer, I wouldn't suggest her. She allows you to do your papers over and even her midterm. Attendance is mandatory. There are 5 observation logs, 25 observation hours, a 2 page paper, and a few homework assignemnts for the class. A lot of effort and work required.

DR. Deering is a wonderful instructor. she is caring, understanding and forgiving on top of that she is very inspiring and helpful. It was a previlage to take her class, she taught me so much in the short time that I spent in her classroom. she takes the time out of her busy day to meet in her office to anser any questions or concerns.OUTSTANDING !

She was not a very helpful teacher. She is very old and it is hard for her to relate to the students. She is a stickler for being on time... especially for 8:30 am class. not very interesting everything comes directly from the book. read everything! she does allow you to redo all work and basically expects you to.

I wanted to take this opportunity to let everybody know how blessed I was to have Dr. Deering in my life. She is the most amazing teacher anyone will ever have. Deering is a marvelous teacher who respects students who present clear ideas and opinions, even if they contradict what she believes. I did not like her class, she is unclear on what she wants on the assignments, a majority of my classmates agree. She gives you a low score because I guess it's not what SHE is looking for when she never clearly specified. Good thing she lets you re-do the assignments! Make you do chapter notes for every chapter in the book :(
