Comment:

She's outright rude and won't teach you anything worth retaining. She doesn't have a basic grasp on international affairs, but is trying to teach international law. Her personal opinions trump any published international affairs theories or basic world history. Terrifying that Villanova would hire someone like that. Worst professor I've ever had.

Comment:

I read all the poor reviews, but needed a writing class and decided not to switch out. I'm glad I stayed in the class. Prof Gordon was very engaging and delightful. Class was always fun and she didn't seem to mind that some people weren't talking, even though it was a seminar. Always responded to emails quickly and was very accessible.

Gordon is the best. Classes in law school are boring and just recant the material you've already read. Gordon at least makes the process fun by just being hilarious. She doesn't let dumb kids ruin class for the rest of us and they don't like her? Stop being spiteful; let's be honest you probably did poorly in your other classes as well.

Gordon is super tough but if you are prepared she will not be rude. If you are not then you will feel humiliated. Those who cannot withstand her manner will have a tough time in the real world. And I had no trouble going to her w/questions. I got along well with Gordon and also took her int'l trade class, which was more relaxed-not scary at all.

Had her in 2003-04. My memories of her were all bad. She's a terrible teacher, she loves to skim over material by saying, "You know this." She is smug, arrogant and aims to embarrass you in front of the class. She is also lazy and completely uncaring about her students. Best advice is to study a hornbook/commercial outlines and ignore her.

This is the best teacher at VLS. Everyone who complains about her is a****who has no business being a real lawyer and is just in law school because they didn't know what else to do. If you can't handle it, cry to Doris for a transfer, but you might want to consider a different profession. Pathetic, if you ask me. Don't front on Ruth.

Intelligent, organized, competent. Has a huge chip on her shoulder. I did fine, so I am not saying this because I didn't want to work, but she is offensive and disrespectful to students, unapproachable, arrogant and hostile. You don't have to hurt and intimidate to teach. I learned a lot but did not enjoy it. Plus she picks on the emotionally weak.

I loved Gordon! My guess is that those who didn't like her didn't prepare or didn't want to work as hard as they had to. She expects a lot, and it's a tough-love course, but you learn it - if you do the work. I will definitely be taking her again.

This woman wants you to think that she is a genius, but really she is a bitter professor out to get her students. After a decent semester (minus her annoying verbal tics and constant complaining about having to teach us), she decided it would be accceptable to give an UNFAIR exam. Avoid her at ALL costs.

Gordon seems overbearing at first, but she's only doing it to get everyone in gear. Presents the info clearly and is very organized. Points out exactly what is important. Makes jokes further into semester and reads the class's mood well. Do all the practice problems and MC samples she gives out before the exam - they're key. My fave 1st yr prof!

Despite the comments that you will learn, I do not think you have to learn in such a negative environment. Gordon is negative, un-inspiring and flat out rude. There are no redeeming qualities about her. I wish I could say I learned, but she just turns you off the material because she is forever having the worst day of her life.

I disagree with the other posters. No, Gordon is not soft or cuddly, but she is no-bull****, get straight the point and she scares you into doing all your work. Your blood pressure will increase, but you will learn, oh will you learn!

Gordon doesn't take questions, and on the rare occasion that she does, she usually berates you for not understanding the material. She gives out practice essays and multiple choice questions, but refuses to supply any answers so you have no idea whether you get it or not. She is the worst teacher I've ever had.
