I actually hated this class. It was a pain to attend. It didn't really match the course description. He was inappropriate, even though you could tell he was trying to be funny. There's a lot of writing and attendance and participation is based on clicker questions. I don't recommend.

His heart is in the right place; he has a lot of interest in what he's teaching and he's obviously incredibly well versed in his subject (One of the required readings is his book) HOWEVER, the class is ridiculously unorganized and really dry; a lot of kids sleep/text/leave. No hw, just clicker q's, papers and a speech and a discussion section

Prof Ali is very passionate about the class. Lectures mandatory- iCicker- and so is disc session. Class participation encouraged. If you're not really into cultures, racial relations, middle east, etc, you won't enjoy this class. A lot of reading and writing

The class was very poorly organized, which tripped me because he changed the calendar halfway through the semester. I find this class very unfair. If you make it to the "Speech Tournament" you're guaranteed 30%+ of your final grade. Issue is, only 18 of 90+ students get it. The only time you use the books is for iclicker questions.
