Entirely not worth it for a professor. Completely knowledgeable but not good for novices. Only good thing is as long as you use your classmates and do enough research, you can pass. Expectations are unreasonable, rambles on about non-sense, very disrespectful to students. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND UNLESS YOU HAVE YEARS OF PRIOR COMPUTER CODING EXP!

I took his class and am dropping it after 3 classes. The professor unfortunately constantly deviates from the class and rants about movies, guns, planes or the military. When she does teach, it is a very fast paced lecture and unclear, even though it is an intro class, there is no explaining or asking questions it is one rant after the other.

This teacher is a no no to the HELL NO!!!!!!! His lecture is helpless, he is into stuff like the dude in "Beautiful Mind" movie. He is the main character; crazy teacher that talks with NOTHING relates to the subject.

Just took his C++ class. He is super confusing about what we need to know about the subject. The last hw knowledge was not even on website, only 3 people turned assignment in. The website that he uses is soo out-of-date. DO NOT FALL BEHIND ON ASSIGNMENT!!

Read the material before and ask your questions. Don't just be there. He is a smart guy and he knows his stuff. It is up to you to make him talk about the material. His assignments are really good. Not cliche end-of-the chapter assignments. Very unusual guy and very unorthodox teaching style. Definitely for people who is there to learn not texting.

Tom is a nice guy but he spends most of the lecture rambling about random things and fluffing the time showing movies or talking about unrelated things to the class. He knows his stuff but his lectures don't aid much when you're going over his assignments(so you rely on the book) and he'll often go out of his way not to explain things directly.

Probably the hardest introductory C++ class I've ever had to take. He requires you to submit homework via a secure server, not blackboard. Read the book and you only scratch the surface of what the homework assignment requires. If you skip one hw you will literally be forced to skip the hw following it. Tests are very easy though.

Stay away from this teacher. He literally post this on discussion section where students discuss how to crack the problem of assignment; "these assignments prepare you for the real world programming... and remember to be kind with the incapable of the real world. it's their parents fault, more than theirs." you will get rude reply if you ask Qs.

If you are not a programmer and are not looking to get into the field, stay out of this class. If you want to learn useful skills and actually want to become a programmer or do something in the technology field, TAKE THIS CLASS! Teaching style is not for everyone. This class is HARD; if you can survive this class, you'll be an amazing programmer

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. I took him for a semester in class, and I can say that he probably allots 70% of the time to what he did in the past or random rants that has NOTHING to do with the class. If you enjoy self-learning, then this class is exactly like that. You practically learn close to nothing from his lectures.

Can't say much about clarity since the content is automated which frees the need for teachers to lecture. The online software for the class however is horrendously buggy. Despite it, he does lecture about interesting arbitrary topics and does so very well. He does tend to have a bad attitude IF you get on his bad side. Don't be stupid.

My unbiased opinion: He will not teach you. You will have to basically learn this on your own by Google/book and then do his assignments for points. I'm not against self-teaching, but this is a hard subject to do that for if you don't know coding previously. Luckily, I did. Take him if you can code already, don't if you can't.

I took C/C++ online. It was terrible! He doesn't use the normal Blackboard tools, and hosts the entire class through a text file, which he updates periodically without mentioning to the students. He was very condescending. I would not recommend this teacher.

Agreed with previous post. WORST ONLINE teaching experience ever and instructor ever in my life PERIOD. Concepts, help, and subject material is given in difficult to follow formats. Supposed to be an intro class but he expects you to know it going in. Do not take on or off campus unless you already know c programming . Save yourself the headache.

Web=HORRIBLE FORMAT! The entire course is in a giant text file with broken web links and no easy way to find what's due (he refuses to use WebCT). Easter egg hunt for assignments. He has a lot to teach and has passion but spends more time force-feeding his opinions. He is very unclear and gets mad if you ask to clarify something in the syllabus

I found this site as an outlet to rant about how awful this guy is as a professor. I just started programming. I took his Visual Basic class and withdrew, to the loss of 80 bucks, because he seemed disinterested in actually teaching beginning programming. Class-time breakdown: 15% on-subject, 85% hot air. I'm C++ing now; Larry Forman is the man!

I took the ONLINE section of his 192 class.DO NOT TAKE HIM ONLINE! He refuses to hand back tests, and he keeps the class moving at an insanely slow pace. (ie he will limit access to future assignments - in my class this created a stock pile of work at the end of the semester). On the plus side, it's an easy A. tons of ex.credit, and open book tests

This guy is pretty good, but also very far out in left field. If your interested in programing and like to be left to your own devices then Harrisburg is a good teacher. I really enjoyed his class, although much of his lectures seemed to have little or nothing to do with actually writing a computer program.
