Comment:
Great for this product design class. He was very knowledgable and genuinely wants to see the students do the best work they can. That being said he can be intimidating at times and he is very critical when critiquing work.

A good professor, kept the class interesting with all the experiments. Style of grading was unknown, though he recognized if you worked hard and put effort into your final project. He was helpful for the final project too if you needed help.

A fun class, with plenty of in-class experiments. His grading is mysterious, but if you put in effort you will do well. Is also very helpful if you need assistance for the semester projects.

Some of the most interesting stuff you will learn in this class you learn from just talking to Bifano about what he does. In my opinion, EK 130 is more about exposure to some of the more interesting professors at BU than mastering the actual material. Keep in mind this man only teaches this class and holds more patents than you probably ever will.

Comment:
Director of the Photonics Center, he's really laid back. Apparently, when he was the director of the Manufacturing Engineering Department he was high strung. Now, he's nice and easy going. The class is incredibly easy.

Likes tough assignments, very tough homeworks and labs but is very generous with partial credit. not very approachable (chairman of Man. Eng.). relatively passionate about his stuff even though it's boring. labs are very interesting but write ups very difficult.

Seems a bit conceited, and he does things rather by the book. Homework can be really difficult, but you'll get very decent credit if you can show you put a lot of work into it. For the material, he makes it rather interesting and he is compassionate knowing it's intro to ENG. A good guy overall.

This class is hard, but after all of the grades are in he puts a huge curve on the class. Don't worry about getting a few bad grades they will all even out in the end. Just give the class a chance.

He's awesome. Very clear and enthusiastic. One of the few prof's in ENG who I consider really good. He'll also give you a job if you ask him.

Labs were really interesting. Sometimes lost the class in lectures and homework was sometimes unreasonable and poorly graded. Have to do a 6 pg paper at end. Comes across as arrogant.

He doesn't know what he is doing. Used an electron microscope in class and he didn't know how to use it. He said, "I really should have learned to use this before class."
