Bring a coffee to class! Professor Finn is an awesome guy but the way he teaches the class/his voice is so calming it puts anyone to sleep. Does not cold call which is great if you are sleeping and his exam wasn't too bad. Can't stress how important Dressler was for this class, don't bother with the text book make sure you know Dressler!

Awful professor. Confusing. Stated at the beginning of the semester that he will not bother going over the material in the texts he will expand on it. Great but when teaching 1Ls in the fall semester they might need to get the basics down first before going into the nuances of Criminal Law. Should not be allowed near 1Ls

Finn will put you to sleep in lectures, he is a nice guy but a bad teacher. His lectures are more informal Q&A sessions. When he does speak on a topic, he makes the material MORE confusing. You will need to buy Dressler and use it, it will literally be your savior.

Very nice man, but I was mystified by criminal law right up until the last day of class. Many many charts. I basically spent 3 straight days teaching myself the basics of Criminal Law before the exam and got a B+. I don't think he's a very tough grader. Make sure to buy additional study aids..or try to grapple with Dressler if you can..

Beware: USELESS. Guy knows his stuff and is a great attorney CANT TEACH TO SAVE HIS LIFE. Makes himself available to office hours and will talk to you for as long as you need.Buy Dressler's "understanding criminal law" it is the only way to lee up and understand what he mumbles about in front of the class. Terrible experience Study HARD for final

Prof. Finn will enter class, go to the front of the room, draw a small chart on the blackboard (which is so small, you cannot read it) and then he opens the floor to questions-for the entire class, every class. He will teach you almost nothing. Bad exam format as well.

Finn effortlessly connects to his audience and is a lenient grader. If you attend his lectures, the textbook may just collect dust on a shelf. He will listen to you and fully answer your questions without being condescending. He also hands out prior exam answers, which btw show that any glimmer of the right idea is rewarded.

Not a good professor. Has a very difficult time articulating anything. I don't know how he ever became a professor. He did a review on Civil Procedure that was utterly useless. He stands there and huffs and puffs and cannot get out words. A strange man who should be replaced.

Finn is a great professor, you will enjoy him. To do well, just show up with your A game. Pay attention, he'll tell you what you need to know, just don't dose off which is very easy to do because he has an uncanny ability to hypnotize you with his voice.

nice guy, not the greatest prof. Sometimes he is clear and others he is very scattered. Cant seem to stay on track and allows the slowest students to hold up the class. I would love to have a beer with him, but I will never take another class with him. Final was deceptively hard. my lowest grade (B).

Nice guy. I came into law school thinking criminal law would be my favorite area but I still needed to make sure I had enough caffeine before attending his class. He will hypnotize you with his ever-softening lecturing tone, by the end of the night you could hear a pin drop over his voice. Doesn't cold call, he covers the material, but bring coffee

Nice laid-back style which feels refreshing after the confrontational profs but he is totally incomprehensible. That being said, it is not hard to get a good grade. Do the old exams-- he will give you 3-4 past ones as soon as passes them out. And memorize as much Dressler as you can. You might as well use class time to read or answer your e-mail.

Nice guy. Interesting style, BUT he focuses on Glannon, who wrote the book. Glannon also teaches at Suffolk. Finn takes no time to avoid a mistake and just says "well, that's what Glannon says." The final is tough, but he takes you through the information. You could do worse than Finn for this class though.

He's the type of guy you want to have a beer with, not the type you want to teach you criminal law. He's really nice but as a professor he's nearly terrible. He knows the material but has a tough time conveying the information to the class. Overall his class isn't that difficult.

One of the nicest and most caring people, not professor, you will encounter. Always helpful, always approachable. I think I might have gotten lulled in by he personality and was caught off guard by his exam, thought it was pretty difficult.

He is very helpful and very approachable. He did straight lecture which was fine until we had him for two hours straight- puts you to sleep! I would take him again though, I did learn a lot and he is willing to help you on problem areas. I wish he was more interactive in class though.

really *NICE* guy. truly loves kids & his students. still says hi to me by name 2 semesters later. however, this class is harder than it seems it should be. this is not a throw-away or "easy" 3 credit. you have to do the problems during the semester or else it's tough to catch up during finals.
