Comment:

He's nice, but he just talked about happiness every class. I took this class to learn career facts. Not to go to therapy. If you take this class, just do the projects and ditch the class. It's a waste of time. Make sure you do the projects though, cuz that's basically your entire grade. The projects are easy, but they take a hot minute.

He taught a lot of new ways of thinking and perspectives that beforehand I'd never considered with regards to choosing a career path. Many students in my class now have declared majors and know what they want to do for their careers. Each week there is a project due (some easy, some more involved). Small class size allowed for great discussions.

Comment:

Dr. Worthen is the nicest guy ever, and genuinely cares about his students. That being said, this is a career exploration 2 credit course, and I had to write more papers for this class than the rest of my classes combined! You have at least a small project every week. I'd recommend just going to his office to talk about making a career decision.

Brother Worthen does a really good job of guiding his students through this course to help you really figure out who you are and what you value in life and how that can be applied to every day living. Nice professor!

Comment:

Don't take this class expecting to come out with your entire life planned. That's not what it is about. He concentrates on the values and goals of each personality and each career. There is a lot of work, and so I wouldn't recommend this class to people who just need to fill a couple of credit hours.

Such a boring class. I had more work for this class then any of my other classes. He is nice but I didn't get the information that I needed for looking into careers because we focused to much on the phychological aspects of it

Professor Worthen is fantastic. If you really want to figure out what you want to do in life, take his class. He gives a fair amount of assignments, but they're all very helpful. He is very approachable and really cares about his students. I love the safety of the environment he creates in his class: everyone is equal and of worth.

I don't refute what has been said. In order to make this a useful class you must be self motivated. He suggests many good things and gives useful resources to get a lot out of the subject but you have to be an active learner. He isn't going to hand you everything you need to know, he will however tell you where to find it. Its a matter of using it

I don't refute whats been said. If you take him he will suggest good things to do but you have to get out there and actively pursue it all. He is an easy grader but to make the class useful you have to be self motivated. The best learning from this class will be done using the tools, ideas and sources that he gives you in an effective manner.

blah. you can tell he tries, he really wants to help, but i found the class very lacking in being able to help me narrow my choices. he focuses too much on psychology stuff--with a unending amount of assesments--since thats his area of expertise, and not enough on the guidance counselor role, which is more what i expected.

He's nice, & if you talk to him he'll help you & let you turn stuff in late, but I don't really recommend his class. I wrote more papers for this 2.0 credit class than all of my other classes combined that semester! & a lot of it was on pointless stuff like defining success. If you're just looking to choose a major, you're better off on your own.

Class is SO boring. There is a lot of busy work. This class did not help me in finding a major or career at all. "Vaughn J. Worthen, PhD." is stuck on himself and not personable at all.

Sadly enough, he's a snooze. He is very kind and tries to establish a relationship with all of his students, but his voice is too soothing...seems as though I'm drifting...trance, I'm in a trance...getting sleepy...so sleepy...[HELP!]
