Gene is a great guy and he knows his stuff. As an intro class, this is a great start into the world of photography. The thing about photography is that you need lens time to learn. Just you and the camera. No teacher can do that for you. Gene is there to lead you in the right direction and to answer questions, which he does quite competently.

This guy is great. Funny. Not sure about the few haters but I liked 1140. Week by week folders. Very organized. Would recommend to anyone who likes photography.

Do not take the online class for general interest or fun. You will regret it. Takes forever for feedback, poorly organized, videos are just links to youtube, grading is over the top confusing. It will also take up a lot more of your time than you think. The Quiz and test questions are random and unrealistic. The class is a cscc money scheme.

The online Intro to Digital Photography course is not well organized as it pertains to the Blackboard. There are links everywhere, documents here and there, website links, YouTube links, etc. It's not organized by any means and it's very difficult to navigate. As long as you can complete the maze, you're gold.

He is one of the laziest professors and department heads I have ever dealt with. He used YouTube materials from others for the whole course (he made NO ORIGINAL MATERIAL), he made you only do tutorials from a book you can buy at any book store. The course cost $420 and the book costs $54. Just buy the book and learn on your own. He's the worst.

Introduction to Digital Photography class was an absolute mess online. Disorganized slapped together, and not recently updated. Follow the directions and you might be missing points because he and his assistant clearly haven't looked at what their classroom online actually says. Huge disappointment in the class quality.

Absolutely amazing teacher. He tries his hardest to make his classes fun and interesting. He is a tough critic and for the sole purpose to help his students learn. He wants a student to not just know but understand everything that he is teaching. All ways willing to help out he is very personable and easy to talk to. Highly recommended.

Took the online class and I think it was the best online class I have taken so far. He had lecture videos up which were very helpful (and great that you could watch them whenever you had time). Quick to reply by email and fairly helpful. The quizzes and tests are a breeze. He likes to try to get his students to declare Photography as their major.

Great teacher! Critiques are tough. He does not let you skate by on talent alone. He wants you to know it. I know equivalent exposures in my sleep now. Shutter speeds and f/stops are easier to recite than my name. He is funny too. Fun class overall but hard.

Photoshop 4 Photographers is amazing! Totally online delivery but not boring. Video demos of techniques are great. I loved the audio component. Great teacher. He is a master at Photoshop. I would take him for another class. He is funny too. Not uptight at all.

By far and away the best online class I have ever had at CSCC! Great interactive tutorials. Ton of info and fun. He taught me so much about Photoshop ... the way digital photgraphers use it. I loved it. I am waiting for Photoshop for Photographers 2.
