Really nice guy and completely understanding. There is soooo much reading and I honestly only did what was necessary for papers. I got a B+ but if I had read and went to class it would have been an easy A.

Lycan is a wonderful professor who really knows his stuff and his first year seminar is incredible. Reading the textbooks are not necessary, there are only 4 papers and I did each one the day it was due. You will have no problem getting an A - especially because the final is practically optional.

Take Lycans Freshman Seminar if you can. Seriously a great teacher. I honestly did zero work out of class all semester except for the four papers. I regret it cause it is worth learning the material. YOU WILL GET AN A. He is an easy grader and is more worried about your learing than grades at all. Dr. Lycan is great, easy, and very interesting

Good class, easy. Keep on top of the reading so you get the most out of the class and can join in. The papers can prove hard to write but with the help of the book and Companion there is no need to worry. No tests.

Dr. Lycan is crazy!! But he is incredibly awesome! If you have the chance to take his first year seminar, do it! He's famous in his field, it's really interesting, and it's quite easy if you can pay attention during class.

This class was really easy, but incredibly boring. Lectures were mostly just rambling. If you get a good TA, class discussions can be fun, but the lectures are a real pain.

The first test misleads you...it seems like an easy class. Then you get hit with the second midterm which is really hard, and the final counts 40%. It's either you get the material or you don't.

Easy A, if you can study 2 hours a week.
