Comment:
Dr. Mangum grades harsher than any teacher I've ever had & only talks about bees and the occasional manatees. He was no help when you questioned why a question was wrong on the test. His tests were way more than he ever taught and worded awfully confusing. If I hadn't taken stats before I would've failed.

this class was a certified bruh moment. the content itself isnt difficult, but the way he lectures is so bizarre. he uses an old-school projector lamp modernized to use a computer projector which isnt necessarily the worst part; its that he has drawings on them, they are unclear and difficult to read, and he often doesnt explain thoroughly.

Notes are only in class, doesn't use canvas, will teach up until the day before finals and tests, no chance to redeem all of 6 grades over the course of the year, mid-term and final will determine your grade, will allude EVERY CLASS about his bees. NEVER take this class unless you have to.

Worst class I've ever taken. You're better off taking Stat with anyone but him. He got sidetracked all the time talking about his bee keeping. There are two exams, a midterm and a final both which are impossible to get above a C on. He said the textbook is mandatory but it provided no help.

This class was a mess. No clear grading criteria and he never posts grades on Canvas so you won't know your overall grade. He's confusing and often goes on a tangent. He makes what should be an easy class unnecessarily hard and stressful. He can also be rude and condescending when asked questions and doesn't give a straight answer. Avoid him.

Professor Mangum is a great teacher. Try your best not to be late or not show up because you will miss important information that he will not repeat to you. The grades in the class are made up by few assignments. If you study well, the tests are manageable and staying on top of the writing assignments are key. Penalizes if you turn in work late.

Let me start off by saying don't take his class, he is a horrible teacher. I took AP stats in high school and I learned more there in a month then I did a whole semster with him. He only takes about bees and science related stuff and is horrible at explaining the material. 2 tests all year and 5 wksh quizzes which he grades harsh on. Don't take him

His lectures and notes are somewhat clear, but the tests are nothing like them at all. He can be quite mean to students. I would not recommend taking him.

Mangum is a nice guy i guess, but unless you are a genius or go to his office hours every chance you get, dont expect and a at all. By the end of the semester, me, along with about 40% of my class switched to passfail for the course. I managed to pass (barely) but I do feel like it was kind of a waste of my time to take the course.

He is so boring I have trouble listening in class and seem to zone out often. I havent even taken a test with him yet and feel like I will be lost a bit. He is over explaining to a point of being confusing. He never asks if we understand he just keeps going. only grades are 2 test and 4 projects. homework is not graded.

Dr.Mangum is SO smart. He is super nice and helps out A LOT in his office hours. He doesn't have sympathy for students that are failing because he gives you all the information you will need for his class and doesn't see the point in complaining about it. He talks about his Bees all the time (Bee Scientist is why).

He spends a lot of time talking about random things... The notes are very clear but during the lecture he gets distracted very easily. Also he is not very helpful with homework or worksheet questions.

Great teacher, very helpful. I thought he was very interesting. You have to pay attention and show up to class, if you don't, then you will have trouble. Do the HW!!! even though it's not graded, it helps sooo much! Go to him during office hours too, b/c it shows him you care about the class. Don't be late either...that's kinda his pet peeve.

He's definately a nice guy, but the lectures are a chore to go to. He's a bit too descriptive in explaining and it gets boring pretty quickly. There are seven grades in the class. Five ten-point worksheets and two tests. Thank god its not cumulative.

Extremely nice and kind-hearted person. Very very boring class though. If I had not taken Stats in high school I would have been completely lost in his class. He is happy to help everyone though. He gives group quizzes in class where he walks around, which is very helpful, and gives help if you need it.

the whole grade is based off of two tests and 50 points worth of work sheets. If your any good in Math its a breeze, the first half of class is basically algebra. He lectures like we've never taken math before though and explains everything as if we speak a different language, very descriptive and way too explainatory

Don't take if you have a lot of trouble with math. He doesn't make you participate (he just lectures) which can be nice sometimes, but also makes it harder to recall the information later, especially if you don't do the HW (which is not collected). He's a nice guy though and his tests aren't too bad. Good choice if feel comfortable with material

SOOO BORING. I barely ever went to class, got the notes off someone else, and got a B in the class. Which is fine with me. Your whole grade is based on two tests.

He's not a bad guy, very nice actually. I think if you come to his class everyday and work hard you'll be fine. Do the HW and test tend to be off notes so go to his classes for the notes. Quizzes were take home and you could do them with a group (max three people in the group). He does take attendence everyday but it doesn't hurt or help you.
