Comment:

Prof. Zolynas is a great instructor. It looks to me as if there are a lot of vindictive students who wish to bash her as a teacher. She has a pretty sharp grading scale but it is certainly fair. There are over 1600pts of homework and classwork that make it impossible for anyone who does their work to fail the class. Expect 4 essay assignments.

She is a very funny teacher, very understanding. Grades pretty hard. One thing i didn't not like was all the printing we had to do. She required us to printing out essay from black board and analyze them in class. Spent a lot of money on printing 5-8 page essays out...All in all she is a good teacher.

I don't understand the bad reviews. Arlie is a wonderful instructor and if you listen to her and do as she asks on the papers, put fourth a little effort, there should be no problem in getting an A. She gives you a chance to fix poor papers. The only way not to get in A is by tuning her out and not doing what she asked.

Arlie is a very tough grader. If you are used to getting A's on papers expect to get B's and C's. I never got better than a B. She would always say "To get an A on the next paper you need to do..." I would do it and still get a B. She is a good teacher and you will learn a lot. The homework is pretty easy but really boring.

Her 201 class is much more difficult than her 100 class, which is intro, so it's SUPPOSED to be easy. She loves giving out low grades for papers if they don't regurgitate what she says in class. I was really interested in English and my last semester I got straight A's, and she gave me a C. Take another teacher. She is not worth the time of day.

In my opinion she is a great teacher! She is more than willing to help you out if YOU are willing to help yourself and work hard. It isn't going to get any easier at the UC/CSU level so why not better prepare yourself now? I got an A in the class and I'm an engineering major(I hate English). If I can get an A in English, you can.

I thought she was going to be a helpful teacher and guide me through, but since i havent written an essay in years, everything i turned in was horrible..according to her. i had an essay revised 4 times once and i still failed the assignment. I showed her my thesis and she told me she loved it, then on the grade said it was off topic. unbelievable!

shes overall a good teacher. just dont get on her bad side. do your homework regularly, no matter the size. and she think youre an angel. essays get easier as you progress through the course, because she helps you understand and build the necessary skills.

I hated English with a passion before this class. I always got bad grades in high school, mainly because I didn't know what to write or how to write. Now I am confident in writing any essay and it's a breeze. Four essays and that is it. You have two peer reviews and then two conferences with the teacher before you even turn it in. Easy A.

I don't know what you students are smoking. This teacher is so ambiguous in directions it is almost ridiculous. I've been an A/B student all of my college career and I am STRUGGLING. English has always been a strength of mine as well. "Help" is never, EVER clear. Take a better teacher. You'll be glad you did.

I adore this lady. She is SO helpful and clear when assigning work. Be prepared to spend a ton of time revising, and all that good stuff. Also, there is no final. So yeah, great class, and a lot of group work, if you're into that.

Very helpful teacher. I went into this class terrified of English, I came out considering a major in English. She really wants you to become a great writer and she is always available for help. The ones in my class that didn't like her are the ones who don't take critism well. She's a very nice lady. Just do your essays and you'll be okay.No final.

wonderful teacher! i took two of her classes this semester. if you have test anxiety then take this teacher! you never take a test, final, mid term or anything! lot's of writing. so if you're not into that, then you might want to steer clear.
