Comment:

Very intelligent and down to earth professor. Amazing at explaining course concepts in a way you can understand. My advice for anyone taking ornithology or herpetology is to only take these courses if you love birds or reptiles and amphibians. If not, the class may be difficult for you. This class has not been the easiest, but it's been fun.

Comment:

Dr. Combs is a wonderful instructor; probably my favorite at Tech thus far. He makes the subject matter interesting and has tons of funny anecdotes about his own experiences. That said, the multiple choice and true/false questions on his tests are NOT easy (but it's an upper division class, so why should they be?). Start studying about a week out!

I really enjoyed Dr. Combs. In lecture, he went over the power points, which he put online prior to class, and that's all the info that was on the exams. I never once opened the book and I made an A. Dr. Combs was very enjoyable to listen to and even told little stories that made class a little funner. I would take him again, for sure.

I loved Dr. Combs. Yeah the powerpoints got a little boring but he does tell some goofy stories about the material every now and again. THE STUDY GUIDES HE MAKES ARE THE BEST. Go to class, study the study guides,powerpoints and you should make an A! He's a sweet man.

I love Dr. Combs. Most of our tests were on Mondays, so I spent the weekend studying and did well on all of them. I am all for book reading, but I didn't open this book once. Wouldn't buy/rent if I were you. Mock exams help! Would take him again in a heartbeat. Sometimes he can be funny.

All the notes are via powerpoint and on iLearn. It's super hard to stay awake in class. Tests are CRAZY hard. Labs are easy. No book required. Lab guides are not required either. You need to study WAY before exams which is hard to do for us procrastinators. However, Dr. Combs is funny. Class was torture because of exams, though.

He is a very very nice guy! Absolutely love him! BUT his tests are like crazy hard. You have to memorize a lot of stuff! It is the hardest class i've taken. I recommend taking him and getting to know him well. Don't need text book he only uses pwr points. Make sure you study for the test like WEEKS ahead of time or you WILL fail the tests.

Dr. Combs is so wonderful! He puts everything online so if you miss class you won't fall behind. His office hours are not very flexible, but if you email him he will help you with whatever you need! He also leads study sessions, gives online practice quizes, and will put a study guide online! I strongly recommend his class!

Dr. Combs is an extremely helpful professor. He offers study guides, mock exams, and study session prior to each exam. If your attendance is good enough, you can drop your lowest exam grade. The book wasn't used at all since he teaches through powerpoint lectures. He also talks about his own experiences with animals and is really funny.

Dr.Combs's lectures are pretty boring (powerpoints), but he manages to add some humor from time to time. The tests are straightforward but are very comprehensive! He lets you drop one exam grade if you attend a certain amount of days though. An A is not too hard to attain in this class.

Dr. Combs is an ok teacher. I took him for Zoo. His tests are VERY hard. We did not use the book at all! His tests come from his power points. You get a few extra credit points in the semester. You can drop your lowest test score if you come to class. Overall, I would recommend to take Willard (sp). Ive heard she is super easy.

ok class. interesting topics if you're into animals. dr. combs is a decent professor. funny at times, dull at times. takes roll occasionally and allowed us to drop a test grade if we were there. gave bonus points and extra credit.

Dr. Combs is an excellent man! His lectures weren't boring, his tests were very fair (although true and false was rather difficult) and he seems like he would be more than willing to help you with whatever you need. Probably the best teacher I've had at Tech.

Prof. Combs is an excellent teacher! He's the most helpful one that I've had so far! He has study sessions before each test. He gives extra points sometimes for attendance. He also drops the lowest test. Science isn't my best, so the tests are hard for me. But again, he's extremely helpful!

Dr. Combs is a great teacher. He is very clear on everything and extremly helpful. Wouldn't exactly say test were easy, but come straight from lecture notes. Must study hard to get an A. Best biology professor in the department.

Dr. Combs was easy. As long as you have notes from class, you have answers to test. They were simple. Final is easier because he takes questions from previous tests and "mixes" them up a little. Don't have to read the book a whole lot, no quizzes, just listen, can be boring. He's a nice guy and will help if you need it.
