By far one of the worst professors I have ever experienced in my four years at CSI. He gave more work then all 4 of my other courses combined (All of which were above 300 level). Prof Gerstner and his "Tutors" that have zero clue what they're doing (Ortiz and Loverde) make this class more frustrating than i ever thought possible. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Excellent professor. He is very knowledable in his field and reads your papers thoroughly with constructive comments. If cinema is your passion, take his classes it will be a great experince. If you're not interested in film study, avoid cinema classes you should take a class you can enjoy as well as study.

STAY CLEAR OF THIS PROFESSOR!!!! He isn't clear on what he wants. He never gives you an answer that relates to what you need help with. He makes you write 4000 word essays and he doesn't read half of it. He bases your grade on two essays and if you do bad one, then your grade suffers. We don't use the textbook. He's absolutely the worst.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR!!! The professor isn't clear, and when you try to ask him a question, his answer has nothing to do with what you asked. Gerstner knows the material very well. Obviously the poster below has no clue what's going on in class. He is tough and takes his work very seriously. Cite all material and be crystal clear in your responses. study the films and rematch them and you will be guaranteed an A!

Simply the best Cinema Studies professor in the department. He is very knowledgable. He's got a ton of energy, makes the class extremly fun. Likes and encourages participation and debates among students. He will always listen to your side of an argument. He is always approachable, always ready to help.
