She's nice, but not very structured and kind of confusing. Class can get frustrating, sometimes she goes on boring tangents. Expectations are often unclear. Meh.

Easy Going. Easy if you show up to class. Several group projects and one large term paper. I'm a ANTH major thought she was a fairly decent teacher. Definitely one of the easier courses to get your WIC out of the way.

I took this class with Kinston because I really enjoyed other classes I've had with her. The class can be unorganized at times but that's usually when she's giving us more time to do things and we get behind schedule. Accepts late work (usually), really easy to get along with and has an incredible amount of patience and a good sense of humor.

WORST CLASS EVER. HUGE WASTE OF MY TIME. Unrealistic grading, ambiguous group assignments, and no structure. Only take this class if you enjoy mass confusion. Or if you know a lot about King Islanders in Alaska...since that's basically what the class is about.

Horrible teacher!! Extremely unorganized. Made us redo our exam, gave the entire class a "C" on a presentation for not including certain items when there were no requirements given. Worst teacher I have even had!! and gave excuses about drinking martinis and watching hero's instead of grading papers! horrible!

The class was mostly based off of group work and we weren't able to grade each person in the group. It was supposed to simulate the "real world", yet she had us redo our midterm that she hadn't graded. She changed the requirements for projects so much that I wasn't really sure what to do. It was a horrible class. Don't take class from her!!!!!!!!!!

I TA'd for Deanna back in 2001-2. I also took several classes from her as a grad student. She's fabulous, she's very tough and cares very much about her students; more than most. All of the negative comments I've seen are based on a misunderstanding of the course topics and, frankly, sour grapes. BTW, I'm white and she's not bitter.

I really liked her classes...she's easy going and really nice. I loved the topics and I thought she presented it as non- biased as possible.. other professors are much worst!

Cultures in Conflict was supposed to be a class about the conflicts between Eastern and Western cultures in the modern day world. Instead, she used this class as her platform for pushing her agenda.

I enjoyed this class. The lectures and videos were interesting. Grading is very fair and tests focus on main points, not details like dates. If you go to every class and do the filmwrites, the class is easy. Take this class for you bach. core.

Not Helpful. Bitter. Very Unorganized, changed schedule around to fit in random guest lectures. But overall an easy grade, so if you can handle a boring class go for it. But I've heard the other teachers are better by far.

I think her tests were confusing and unfair. I knew all the material and got a poor grade. She also seems a lil bitter about how her indian ancesters were treated and made4 some generalazations about the class , saying "you guys" were the proble

The students in this class were awful, but she worked her butt off to help keep them updated. Read the material and you can follow her lecture easily, and she was fairly flexible when concerns were raised. She's *great.*
