UMBC has some good 100 profs and I'm convinced Mrs. Putzel is the best. Highly flexible on papers, always with ample time. Happy to help with any questions and gets papers and stuff back QUICK. Grading system is not very clear, and it's a hard A, but an pretty easy B. No concrete length reqs to papers, up to 4 absences allowed per dept policy.

Professor Putzel is a very helpful teacher. She provides an ample amount of time to complete major papers and essays and gives a lot of flexibility on the topics. Highly recommend student to take her class. It was an easy A for a student like me who does average in English.

She was fantastic. Gave roughly 2 weeks to complete most essays; all relatively interesting topics with lots of flexibility to make it your own. Easy A, coming from someone who received straight B's in English throughout high school.

I have always dreaded English, but I found it to be very doable with Ms. Putzel. We wrote 4 essays and completed 4 lab assignments throughout the semester. She is a fair grader and gets papers back pretty quickly. Her expectations are very reasonable, and I would highly recommend her to prospective students!

Mrs. Putzel is one of the best English Professors that I have ever had. I am not a big fan of English but her teaching style made me fall in love with the class. We had 4 Essays to write, and 4 lab assignment that counted as one essay grade. Work load is not overwhelming. She respected my style of writing and was able to receive an A.

Classes are boring, often spent peer editing or other mindless group work easily done at home. Other than that it is an easy class as long at you attend and no homework other than the 4 papers. Don't be surprised if the highest grade you get on an assignment is an A-/B+ (she doesn't believe in "a perfect paper") Overall take english with Putzel!

I have always dreaded english. When signing up for classes for first semester of freshman year, I used rate my professor to compile a list of decent teachers. I was lucky to find a spot available in one of her classes on orientation day. She is a great teacher. She always made time to help out her students. Not 2 mention we had no HW, n only 5essay

really good teacher. I am a computer engineering major and have NEVER enjoyed an english class. English just isn't my thing, i dont work with that side of my brain. She's the only english teacher I've had who made me think i could write a decent paper, and plus she stays really real and down to earth the whole semester. definitely take her class!

Diane Putzel is a great English teacher. She tells great stories and has a great sense of humor. Her assignments are actually interesting, and made me want to go to class. Unfortuneatly, I ended up missing 5 classes overall. Little did I know, that she would drop a letter grade. So I ended up with a B. I still think she's great tho.

One of my best teachers/professors so far in my HS+College career. She will definitely help you learn how to write but she won't do it for you; she'll point you in the right direction and you put in the effort. She's very fair in her grading, etc, always humorous, excitable, and will help you with written work you may have for other classes.

Take Putzel for ENGL 100, she's awesome! She's a funny lady, just make sure you're not the person she starts picking on for the entire semester. Four papers and lab assignments with a techincal spin, it can't get any better. She keeps the class interesting by always keeping it real.
