Comment:
Knowledgable but kinda odd and asks questions that encourage students to randomly guess. Not sure if normally like that or because it was his first online class. Lots of reading and one-page responses, but is easy going on grading and gives extra credit to "superb" papers. Exams are all written response. Easy A if you show up and do the reading.

Not accessible outside of class. Can be difficult to understand what he wants you to understand from readings. Midterm exam was all prompted free/short response. Requires three textbooks, but only really uses one.

Professor Andrus is a typical anthropology professor. He assigns a lot of reading and there are quizzes for those that sometimes can be a little tricky. Other than that, there is not a lot of weekly homework. The final paper, however, is a little bit of a doozie because it is 20 pages. Overall a not a hard class.

Great teacher but need to attend everything and read all assignments very carefully! But lots of extra credit is given to help the tough daily reading quiz's. There is one every day so really read the assignments really well!

Hes a good professor with tons of good insight. Knows a ton about Anthropology and loves it, and can tell when his students love it too. Great dude, just not clear with his lectures. Although hell give you the information you need its usually kind of hard to follow. Tough grader- you need to write a TON to get a good grade. Cant hear very well

The tests are all short answer which could make them harder if you don't know the material.

Andrus is an interesting professor. from requesting to be called "Master Andrus" to not being able to hear all the comments made in class. He grades pretty hard on daily quizzes based on reading (sometimes a lot). Make sure to stay the whole time for tests and write a lot on tests and quizzes.

He is a very odd professor. He has an extremely particular way of grading and I often lost points because I worded things "wrong". Your grade is based on how well you do on the tests which are very long and only include essay questions. There are lots of extra credit opportunities, but they are a lot of work for a little gain.

The class is all about how you do on the tests. There is extra credit, but it does not do a ton to the overall grade. Professor Andrus is a weird guy. That being said he wants his students to succeed so if you have to, stay after class and he'll help you out/tell you what you need to do to succeed in his class.

Master Andrus is a cool teacher. He wants to see his students succeed so he offers a lot of extra credit opportunities, there is a daily quiz every week but if you do the reading it should be pretty basic. He is always happy to help and be of assistance. He is really nice.

Anrus is cool. He is very particular about his grading on tests. I was overconfident on the first test. The class isnt hard if you devote time to it, just dont take any shortcuts!

He is a good professor. He has a particular way of thinking about anthropology and if you can answer along his line of thinking, you can do well!

Take good notes and learn to organize them conceptually. He prefers essay questions which is more work for him and you, because you have to demonstrate conceptual and relational mastery of the topic. Grades are definitely proportion to time and effort.

The man cannot hear and needs a hearing aid. His lecture notes are pretty disorganized. If you do the readings, you'll be ok but make sure and study for the tests.

This class was pretty much awful. He doesn't put the syllabus or schedule on learning suite, and only goes off the paper syllabus that he gives you the first day of class. He will read grades out loud in class, even on exams. I'm pretty sure that's not legal... He makes the class harder than it needs to be, even though Anthro isn't that hard.

Class is actually ANTHR 346 2 major projects: group presentation and a 10 page single-spaced paper. They weren't too bad. No exams! Just little reading quizzes. Also watched 2 movies in class and wrote reviews on them. Really discussion based and sometimes "guess what the professor is thinking." Really great guy!! Extra credit opportunities!
