He is very passionate and knowledge about what he is teaching. However, he can't convey his knowledge in a way that someone learning can understand. He expects you to already know this material well, and will often spend only five minutes covering a concept. He is a really nice guy, but really should be teaching at the graduate level.

He was a very good professor. If something was not clear, he would back track and clarify. Fair grader. Quizzes were easy, but for some reason the Final did not reflect the quizzes very much. Not many proofs on quizzes, but an unusually large amount on the final. Other than that very nice guy also.

Coutsias is a great professor, but his lectures could be unclear and sometimes assumed a general level of understanding of math above that which corresponded to the students. However, he was always understanding and would glady reclarify.

I learned a lot in his class and it's helping me in my graduate studies now. I probably wouldn't be passing if it weren't for his past lessons. I think he's great, and although the class was WAY too early, he was a great teacher. Challenging and hot stuff.

I have mixed thoughts for this professor. On one hand, the class I had with him was soooo early I couldn't stay awake... on the other hand, all his lectures seemed to make sense. I still ended up with a damn B+ in his class though =( Extremely knowledgeable, but perhaps assumes the students know more than we really do.

Hard class, but not because of the teacher. Coutsias is a good guy, real nice, real understanding. The only reason I graduated was because he was so leniant and cool about****. Don't listen to what anyone else says, he's awesome.

also Math 317. He moves far too fast and doesn't explain the topics well. His a smart guy just not the best teacher in the world. He may be an aquired taste as teaching goes.

This guy really know his stuff, although the first presentation is not always 100% clear, but if you ask reasonable questions, you can learn a lot. Many students were looking for a class to sleepwalk through.

Avoid at all costs. Take it from a student with a 4.1 GPA, you want to find a different instructor. This guy is incoherent in the class room and uninterested in teaching undergrads.
