Comment:
Baker is a challenging teacher but it is not hard to do well in his class. Every test is 4 questions long and are taken directly from past tests (get those tests from his website). As long as you study for the test and go to class you should easily be able to get at least a B.

He is very unhelpful. You will do far more learning from doing hw and reading the book than attending his pointless lectures. Half the time he can't get his own problems right. He posts old tests for practice, and 75% of the questions on the tests/final are from these, which is the only reason people can get a good grade, b/c his teaching is awful.

The test are not too bad. I went to class only on the days of the tests and ended up with an A. As a teacher, he is horrible. The things he goes over in class is never on the test. Old tests are VERY helpful (GET THEM IF YOU WANT AN A).

One of the worst teachers that I have ever had. I really don't know how other people liked him. I read the book and went to every class. His lectures were hard to follow and went too fast. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

After taking this class you will truly be good at intro physics. But at what price? Tests are extremely long and are fit into 50 minute periods. To pass a test it requires unreasonably obsessive studying and you also have to hope you don't make any small math errors during the 50 minutes of frantic working during the test.

Hard class. make sure you know all concepts and formulas cold. study like hell, you are guarenteed a B. Makes hard class throughly enjoyable. all exams are similar to practice exams. final exam is similar to hourly exams. At least two questions on the hourly exams come straight from practice exams- so know practice exam material well.

dr baker is a most excellent professor and i think the other people who are rating him and gave bad responses didn't take the little bit of time it takes to either study or ask baker questions outside of class

Dr. Baker is very intimidating, and teaches from a practiced perspective that doesn't make sense to alot of students first starting physics. You WILL NOT get higher than a B without going to office hours for extensive help in a Phys4XX class.

the worst prof i've ever had. criticizes and degrades students in front of the entire class. i think he tries to make the material as complicated as possible.
