Attendance is not mandatory and he is willing to help you outside of class. Lectures are sometimes long but if you read the textbook and do the homework you should be able to get an A.

Really wasnt that bad if you went to class, did the hw, did the readings and do the practice tests two or one night before the tests. It wasnt an easy A but definetly was not that bad if you put effort into the class.

He is an okay professor but doesn't know much about economics. I guess he is also no longer with the Econ department

There are weekly online homework assignments, which help your grade a lot if you take the time to understand the material to complete them. Plassmann wasn't a bad lecturer, though some of them could be somewhat dry. He's always very receptive to questions and takes the time to answer all of them thoroughly. The tests are fair, but difficult. Study!

Comment:
This class is not easy, Plassmann really expects that you know the material and not just able to recite it. If you work hard, read the text book, utilize Binghamton's tutoring services, and study it is not impossible to do well in this class. Plassmann is also very welcoming and always willing to help during office hours.

2 midterms, a final, and homework's make up your grade. His tests are some of the most difficult I have ever taken. The class average for most of them is in the 60's and 50's. However, he is an approachable man who will help if you need it. I think he should be teaching grad students and not intro courses. Go to discussion, office hours, and STUDY!

This was way to difficult for Econ 160. Plassman is an extremely intelligent man but his teaching needs improvement. To be fair, I did not try my hardest in this class because I wanted a social life. However, if you do not care about that then take him. This class was discouraging. Average for the final was a failing grade. Tiny curve on each test.

Plassmann is a nice guy, but hard to listen to as a professor, so a lot of people skip class. His class average has been a C+ for the past few semesters, and he doesn't see anything wrong with that. Im not a fan of econ in general, but taking this class definitely didn't help.

Extremely good professor. He always uses clear examples. Not an easy A, but not tough, either. I don't understand why people are saying he's "soooo difficult." Try to get him for econ 160

A great man who is willing to go out of his way to ensure his students understand the material. Textbook readings are short and sweet and to the point. Because he is more conceptional in his teaching style, no math is required. Probably the best professor I've had at Binghamton. He really wants his students to do well.

Really good professor. I really enjoyed the way he teaches and he's able to answer any questions during lectures. Loved his grading scale policy too and got an A for Micro. Take him, you will learn so much!

He is an extremely hard teacher! AVOID HIM IF YOU ARE NON-ECON MAJOR. I studied a lot before the tests and I understand most of the concepts, but I still get 70s 80s on his test. He makes his tests way too hard!!

Exams are berating to intelligence as Plassmann makes his exams as hard as 400 level ECON classes. The class is struggling and he knows it. Final exam was nothing like the previous exams. Grade is based solely on two miderms, a final and homework. Would not recommend unless you put in MAXIMUM effort. Take with Chris Hanes instead.

Flornez is the worst professor at Binghamton University. He enjoys giving extremely difficult tests, and actually gets pleasure out of seeing his students fail. WARNING - DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS... Unless of course you enjoy being mentally tortured. This is supposed to be a gen-ed Florenz, not an opportunity ruin people's confidence.

Undoubtedly the worst teacher I've ever had. Class is incredibly boring, and he is hard to understand. His tests are extremely difficult. I enjoyed Econ before this class. Complete turnoff. DO NOT TAKE

Seriously, do not take Econ 160 with this professor. I promise you'll regret it if you do. The tests are near impossible even with hours of studying. Lectures are boring and borderline incomprehensible. Really discouraging considering my prior interest in economics. There's no way an intro course should be this difficult.

I did very well in Macro last year and expected to do well in Micro, too. Wrong. He overcomplicates simple concepts and is very confusing in lecture. I stopped going to lecture and simply taught myself from the book and my TA, who turned out to be helpful. If you want to take micro, I suggest a different professor.
