Dr. Adelson is funny, but you should be prepared to study hard for this class (especially because there are only 4 grades entirely). He sends out study guides to every test but you have to add the pictures yourself. I suggest a shared class google doc to study. Also, don't even think about extra credit. Not happening.

You really just have to pay attention or at least study for the exams when the time comes. He is a cool guy. He's pretty funny and tells some interesting stories. I took this class as a req elective and I genuinely enjoyed it even though I was doing other homework most of the time. I liked him a lot and would probably take him again if i had to.

I took this class as an elective so I am not an art major. I came in not knowing about the history of American art but I left with so much knowledge. One of the best professors Rowan has to offer but it is only difficult if you don't study. He made learning very fun and interesting including the mandatory trips to museums.

I absolutely love him! He's very a interesting lecturer and an amazing guy! He regularly sends out study guides and lays out the like 1 or 2 small casual essays at the beginning of the semester and again when they're approaching. Requires trips to philly usually. One of my favorite professors. Good humored, patient, and very understanding

he's great he doesn't just read off a screen about the pieces and he keeps it interesting. if you take a 9:30 it still is hard to stay awake. The exams are a little tough for me bc I suck at memorizing names and numbers but this class is very easy

Class is great, I think hes a good prof if youre interested in art. However his study guides are misleading and didnt contain the artworks he put on the exam. Totally boned me on the midterm, so study guides are unreliable. Just study everything instead of whats on there to be safe. Sigh.

Adelson is the best! He makes art history very interesting with his enthusiasm about the subject. There are only four tests and one writing assignment. Make sure you have correct spelling (especially artist name) and your grammar is on point for the assignment. There will be a lot of memorization (art history is not an easy a). I would take again!

VERY DIFFICULT EXAMS. He only has 4 big assignments that make up your whole grade- midterm, final, 2 papers. EXTREMELY anal, gave me a D on a paper ONLY because I misspelled an artists last name. Excepts you to memorize 50 paintings and only tests you on about 13. First C I have ever gotten in a class for completely dumb reasons.

Professor Adelson is a very harsh grader who does not make an effort to help students. He treats all students like they are art majors. Not only that, we had to buy several books that we didn't use at all. Avoid taking his classes if you can.

Professor Adelson is hands down one of the best professors I've had in my four years at Rowan. He's the only professor I feel I've truly learned something from. He's extremely witty and tells personal stories that relate back to what we're learning about. He might seem tough, but he means well. Take his classes !!

So great!! Adorable and witty, his class is a lot of fun. If you make sure to study the study guides he sends out, and go on the field trips, you'll do fine. The trips are fun and he always brings treats for the students. Appreciates wit and puns in papers, and gives few assignments. It's not an easy A, but it's pretty low stress.

He's witty and made the class really interesting. He goes to Florence frequently for conferences so he has seen a lot of this art in person and that gives another dimension to the material he teaches. If you take good notes, you won't have to rely on the book much.

He is a really nice guy. Knows his stuff. Take really good notes, go to class. 2 papers, must go to 2 museums (1 is a class trip to Met museum in NY), and also have midterm and final exam. He gives study guides for everything you talk about.

I really enjoyed his class. I'm not an art major, but he made the material so interesting. There were two required field trips: one to D.C. and one to Philly, and it was really neat listening to him talk about everything we saw in the museums. His exams are pretty tough, but overall a great professor.

One of the best profs I've ever had at Rowan. Incredibly knowledgable and presents the info in a way that makes you want to listen and learn. I normally have trouble staying awake in art hist courses but I never felt my eyes droop once in his 9 am class. Incredibly demanding course, but well worth it.

HIs exams are HARD and you MUST go to every class to understand the art that he is giving! He did take us on a trip to Washington DC and it was amazing! Be ready 2 write 2 papers very well! Great Guy!

this class was pretty interesting. you have to take a lot of notes and remember a lot of****. but if you make yourself a lil 'reminder sheet' you should be good for the tests. and hes pretty funny too, so atleast it doesnt suck being in the class.

He's such a nice man, and he's hilarious. I really enjoyed his class and he made me really appreciate art. However, his mid-term and final are really hard, and you need to study alot. My advice: take notes on notecards during class, tape the piece on the back, and review ALOT. If you do that you should get an A or B.
