Comment:
Great class on Kingdom Ethics, very challenging though. Some of my fellow students were really struggling to keep up. That's because Essays and Assignments were not always clear on expectations. Stassen has a profound grasp of the Christian Ethics, but a bit more class organisation would be helpful to students.

Amazing scholar who is globally known for his groundbreaking peacemaking work. Easy to understand, reading intensive, quite personable with students & always fair. Offers opportunities for extra credit. Has dinner with students every Monday night. This class helped me to prayerfully reevaluate some long held stances. A MUST take while at Fuller!!

one of the best in the discipline. If you are planning to take classes at Fuller, your experience of the school will be much less than what it could be unless you have a class with Stassen.

He restructured the class for my session, and that made it difficult to follow. Other reviewers claim he's got a distinct bias in teaching. However, this bias cuts across political boundaries, and I think it is the most consistent application of the Bible to the current world I have ever seen. In short, he's a bit convoluted, but very good.

Passionate about ethics for sure, but definitely has his own agendas and leanings. Never felt he gave a very fair and balanced view of both sides of an issue, although he thinks he does. But the topics are often interesting so it's kind of a mixed bag. Found lectures to be a bit scattered, but readings are good and challenging.

Comment:
I found Dr. Stassen's class to be very challenging. His main emphasis is on Incarnational living. As such, Stassen takes great care and places heavy focus on the actions and teachings of Jesus. Stassen quite obviously has a certain particular leaning which caused some to be frustrated. However, I was stretched more b/c of his ardent beliefs.

This was my first Fuller class so I don't have much to compare to. Stassen is enthusiastic and knows his material. He really cares about ethics, and about Bonhoeffer. Too bad he's not very organized--it was hard to be sure what what was due when, and how he wanted it done. Syllabus errors made things confusing. Overall, though, a good teacher.

While he is not pompous, he does indeed have an "agenda." But then again, so did Jesus. He was all "agenda" from the moment he started his ministry. So, if you want to learn about the agenda of Christ, take Glen Stassen's class. It will change the way you think. If you want to stick to your own "agenda," avoid the class, stick with Fox News.

I found him reading from his own book a lot. Not a bad lecturer. Very available. Sometimes seemed unprepared for class.

I did not find him pompus, rather passionate. If you are teaching ethics, you shouldn't be wishy-washy you need to take a stand and LIVE it, and that's what he does. I often felt "convicted" in his class, but I think that is a good thing - aren't we all here to change & learn & grow and follow Jesus more closely? This is what he teaches & it's hard

Stassen's approach to ethics and his take on the applicability of the Sermon on the Mount radically changed my worldview. It took a while to understand exactly what it took to excel in the weekly essay quizzes, but def. a prof worth taking!

He takes a different approach from the usual by drawing his method from the Sermon on the Mount. He makes it relevant to today.

It is hard to take notes on his lectures because he's not exactly linear in his thoughts, but he is very passionate and knowledgable. Everyone should take a class from him, he will change the way you think.
